Do you receive paper statements each month ? May have been a change of T&Cs leaflet in with a statement.

If you do not receive regular statements or letters from your bank, have you changed address and not informed your bank ?

no i am paperfree, so no it would not come in with the bankstatement, and yes they have my address correct.

It's just one of those things, although one memeber of staff on the phone said if you didnt get bank statements the letter would not of gone out to you, yet another said she was paperfree and did get a letter, so i dont know if even the staff know whats going on and this was told to me only this week..

    Important Information

If you choose to stop receiving bank statements by post:

    • this will take effect from your next or subsequent statement and from this point forward you will no longer receive bank statements or any pre-advices of interest and charges (which includes those which you have elected to receive in an alternative format such as Braille, large print or audio tape)
    • we will notify you by email when a statement and/or pre-advice of interest and charges is available for you to view online
    • we recommend that you regularly check your transactions online, for each of your accounts
    • we may notify you of changes to your account terms and conditions and other important information relating to your accounts electronically or by post.
    • you will be able to order a paper copy of a statement. Please note that there may be a charge for this service.
    • we will notify any additional parties to the account, by letter, that they will no longer receive paper statements. Please note for joint accounts paper bank statements will not be sent to any account holder.

  • Thanks for all the advice on here.

Looks like I will be migrating to Barclays in the New Year.

Such a shame, because in every other respect Natwest have been by far the best bank I have been with.

i have(had) a Natwest Step account, which got 'upgraded' to a normal(?) basic accounts..

the extra 'benefit' it seems is LESS ATM access.. everything else stays the same- telephone/online banking, standing orders, and NO overdraft (as before) - which i dont want anyway..

If banks charge each other for customers to use different ATM's, surely it all cancels each other out?

    cheers, NW!

If each bank serviced the other's customers free of charge then the banks with lots of branches and ATMs would incur most of the costs and the banks with few branches would have lower costs and thus be more competitive.

NatWest 3660 + RBS 4430. Northern Rock 31. They are not going to cancel out are they?

RBS (even excluding NatWest) has more ATMs with no fee to drawers using Link cards than any other bank.
  • northernrock dont count as a real bank, surely..?!

  • I have a default - £257 from 2008 however I have only just realised that it a step account. Did this account

    ever have an overdraft facility?

The bank charges must have made this happen, although if the account did not have an overdraft facility how

could occur. I wrote to Natwest before Christmas to ask them to remove it as it is for such a small amount.I

have not heard from them as yet.Still did not realise only recognised the number!!

I do have some paperwork but not all. What should I do?Please help
SPC £500 well will try very hard.

    GC £6.16/£150

I can image you was charged for a failed DD or something similar which took you overdrawn and charges have incurred on top of charges. Maybe you could SAR Natwest and ask them for details of all your account transactions etc.

A Step Account couldn't accrue service charges for actually being overdrawn so the negative balance must have been made up £30/£38 unpaid charges.
