Much appreciated!
Ive just emailed my husband with a request he chop some bits of wood (had some fence posts given us for nothing by a man who does fencing) for our fire and or chimnea - in a getting ready for winter / frugal way...
Ill have some always dry in the house, the rest I will stack in garden bags behind the kids trampoline!Trying to shift that debt!0 -

I think I will look into her having the op although it is a worry.
I have been fluey for over a week now.
Still coughing and spluttering and headachy!
Hope all goes well ruby for little Wedgie.
You sound like you need some looking after too. Bring the duvet down and snuggle for a few days.slowlyfading wrote: »:hello: everyone, I'm back from my hols!
Had an amazing time, did some wonderful things, including a ride on a camel in the Sahara desert, off-roading and watching a sunriseit is nice to be back at home and having a cuppa though
seriouslyfrugal - well done on passing :j :j
Zaksmum - welcome to the thread
Welcome home slowly. Sounds like your holiday was amazing! I know what you mean though about being back home, tea just doesn't taste the same anywhere else.alec_eiffel wrote: »Hi everyone,

Hello alec.
And a hello to 'optimistic' welcome to the thread. You'll love it here.
Well ended up spending £6 odd in Hobbycraft taking some pens back and bought a card punch similar to one I've already got! Ah well...
Plans for today.
1. More work in the loo and less time googling bathroom decor ideas!
2. Have another sort out of my craft items and try to remember what I have. Not moneysaving when I'm doubling up on things!
3. Look for a quiet camp site for Bank Holiday.
Hopefully I can manage those three.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Well one cat on my lap, one cat stretched out on the sofa and one cat stretched out in the garden but no sign of Wedgie now who is too clever and has done a bunk! Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Hello fellow frugallers:j
Gosh I have been doing some thrilling no cost activities here at Gnat Bottomed Towers today....like washing/disinfecting out the bins:rotfl:I have though got my self registered with the job centre and they made an appointment for me to see an advisor this afternoon. The lady I saw couldn't have been more helpful and I've come away with a good idea of what I need to do next. CV writing tomorrow yipee but I shall use the Next Step advisor there to check it over before I start sending it out to too many people. Would like a decent version to go to try and make a good impression:o
I've done a frugal weekly shop today and found a few whoopsies to restock the freezer. My parents have gone off on their hols so have left us with loads of veg [she knows how I loathe waste:D] so I shall convert some of it into soup for lunch tomorrow.
Other than that I plan to make a rainbow button heart to use up some of my stash- it looks easy even for a simple pimple like me:D
Glad to hear you had a good hol SF, welcome Optimistic [great debt busting] and RT...cats:eek: I caught Psychocat being fed by yet another set of neighbours today...she's old and thin and a real scavenger. Everyone thinks she's a stray with her gammy leg...she isn't she's just a right little herbert!

Its been a while since I managed to read this thread, never mind update. I have been re doing my budget. And trying very hard to not spend, but falling fowl of ebay purchasing. Manged to get my car insurance done, but it was not as cheap as the quotes and the quidco/onepoll cashback offers were going to cost me too much now, to use, to get the £100 cashback would have been nice, but I really need the cash in my purse now as we are on a self catering holiday in 2 weeks time, and I need to be able to buy our food out there.
I have not been food shopping since the end of last month, apart from picking up bread, milk and fruit. But I am running low on the fresh stuff so thats a trip necessary before we go. But I am eeking out the food that is in the cupboards. We have run out of biscuits so I made some scones and flapjacks on Friday. However the scones were more like fat biscuits, in size, but they taste ok.! My baking never seems to rise!.
I have been given some clothes that were supposed to be for recycling in my sewing, but the majority of them were so good, and fitted me exactly, so they are going to be the main part of my holiday wardrobe.
I have made DGD a dress out of a duvet cover that I found in a charity shop, around £4, and there is enough to make her other bits, possibly a top and shorts, and even a hat. We will see if I can manage to get the time.
I am also making our beach bag, and the other bits and pieces I may need to take smellies etc in.
Then I have been keeping the sachets that come in magazines etc, and have some sample size skin care things that I was given earlier in the year.
So I think I am getting there.
I am looking at storecupboard makes to make sure that we eat the cupboard contents first! So I am hoping to get by without a big shop this month. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Dizzy boy, that saying is sooooo true! Like the look of the book - think I'll put it on my Christmas list!:)
Slowly glad to hear you had a great holiday, the camel ride in the desert sounds just fabulous!:D
Cheryl congrats on the house "sorting", I hope it's helping. It's so difficult as on the one hand you want to keep everything the same as when the person was here but on the other, you need to be able to move on.
Spiral I hope the cider works (I love it!) and would love to try making some. Can you make it with any apples or only certain types  (DM has a few apple trees ......).
Skint but optimistic  welcome! That's a fantastic start you've made clearing so much off your debt, it must be a huge relief!
Ruby hope you managed to find Wedgie? Little monkey, mine are the same and just seem to know when a trip to the (shhhhh, say it very quietly) vet is on the cards. My big one is due his booster which I usually leave until the 15 month mark but due to op, he's going to have to go in the next couple of weeks:(.
Well, good news of the day was that DM and I made it to the Fringe!:j Have spent most of the day being entertained by street artists (there was one guy juggling with machetes and chainsaws on a 10 ft unicycle:eek:).
Oh the joys of having problems with both feet, thankfully remembered to put my ankle brace on (support for knackered ligaments in right one) but the left one (due the op) isn't too happy tonight:(. Nevermind, even if I can't do anything tomorrow, it was worth it!
Popped to a couple of shops and got some things ticked off from my preparing for winter list so very pleased:D.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I'm always left feeling that I want more from these 'cherry' programs, and some I argue with, tonight I liked it, it would be really good if the subject could be taken further... like dies the wag wannabe get her rich man, and also show her that the £200 spent in the salon could be put to better use.
I cried during the time with the girl from merthyr , it was when they went shopping that got me.
I will need to watch again as I missed the one who went 'skipping' for food..Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb
