Hope you feel better soon Spiral and the Black Dog lifts so you can enjoy your time away Tumpty; I expect a little break will help.
A liitle update on my cat Marmalde she is still going strong and is as naughty and Minxy as ever. So much for the rapid decline I was warned about!
Wedgie is fine too although hard to give her her tablets as she is so clever and knows and goes in to hiding if I'm not quick enough! Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

In my experience you have to be incredibly fast to get a pill down a cat's throat :-) My cat is the same if she sees the defleaing vial )the stuff you put on the back of their neck, she dissapears for hours, think she must be able to hear it come out of the packet!0 -

thanks. i did feel really rough in the end, with a bad stomach. If Im very honest it must be because i've been eating really bad this week (too much rubbish, eg onion ring crisps ect left over from the party). think my body rebelled. Tumpty - i hope you have a fab weekend away. I think i'll join you in cutting back on food and see if it helps me feel better both physically and mentally. I've found the black dog doesnt like adventure (or walking!) so i reckon your weekend away will do you lots of good. xRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. hi - I am new to this site and this forum, so forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this
Today I had a little mini sort out of my jewellery drawers and found some old plastic, chunky bead jewellery - bought on a whim from Prim4rk for £1 in the sale. anyway, I knew I wasn't ever going to wear it. So i broke it up, took all the beads off and have put all the beds (there were hundreds) into my toddlers craft box for future gluing session

Hi Zaksmum,
I've done that and used the beads to make Christmas decorations.0 -

Onion ring crisps! :-) I'd forgotton those!
I think things will be easier in September when school starts and I am not having to juggle so much with my son being at home and trying to get work done. I have to start again phoning round schools in a different area because I don't see any houses coming up where we wanted to move in the near future and I think we might be happier in exmouth - by the sea as there is more to do there. So I'm sort of back to square one with moving but hopefully it will work out.
I'm a bit scared of speaking to the schools because what I am trying to find is somewhere we will fit in, we don't here because we live in a Muslim community and they have rules about not letting non muslims in. I spoke to a school in Exeter and they said we were 'too middle class' and wouldn't fit in. I was really upset by that at the time but actually I appreciate it now, my 8 year old can understand that he is different culturally and that is why he has no friends that can come over after school but I don't think I can explain class to him, and I don't really want to, it shouldn't matter. I imagine proper middle class people can afford to live in better areas where this isn't an issue.
The insane thing is that it is not about money, we live on a very low income indeed, it is about values and I don't want him to be teased for not having sky or the right trainers or for being vegetarian (which is his choice and nothing to do with me). I don't have a regional accent and people who do think I sound posh, the reality is very different :-)
It's not really on topic any of this, sorry.0 -

Congratulations!:D It's so great when you finish, isn't it!
It must be the week for it - finally received my nice shiny new HND Certificate yesterday (finished at the beginning of March so it's taken AGES to come through).
Still a year to go to get my degree but on hold just now. Struggling to find the £3k:eek: to pay for it and as I'm having my op just at the start of the educational year, it doesn't seem "sensible" to get behind right at the start (it's hard enough to give it enough time with a full time job, dog and cats etc let alone losing around 2 months right at the start!) So, it looks like it's on hold for a year - which will hopefully give me time to raise the funds (don't really want to get into debt to pay for it), but also worried that it'll cost more then due to tuition costs - although these seem to be better in Scotland (so far).23rdspiral wrote: »i'm amused Rising, a mate on fb has just posted pictures of a cat gym he's just bought his kitten... probably from lydl!
Huge disappointment with the cat tree - it's absolutely fantastic but is a lot bigger than advertised:mad:. (I guess that's one of the problems with E*bay).
I've tried several places in the house (when I really wanted it in the "cats room") but it just looks ridiculous!
I've advertised it on Gumtr*e for the price I paid and already have 3 people after it, so should hopefully get my money back - although I'd much rather it'd fitted in:(.
Welcome to Zaksmum!
Had a fairly busy day - only a couple of spells of drizzle so a huge improvement on the rest of the week. Went to DMs and looked for lino for my 2 bathrooms. I can't believe how much offcuts are now:(.
Found 2 bits that would've done but neither was great (odd colours, patterns) and they were still £45! Eventually found some I really liked (new on roll) for a reasonable price but it was still going to be £65! There was a lino display with 20% off today and DM went to sales guy "is that including the 20% off" and he went, "oh that's not on that range"..... A couple of minutes later when he obviously thought we weren't going to buy it .... "Would it help if there was 20% off - I could do that if you bought it today" - so got both bits for £51 so feeling quite pleased with that!:D (I guess £50 to do both bathrooms isn't too bad!)
Off to relax and unwind, hoping for a decent day tomorrow, must try to get some beans picked, blanched and frozen as they're getting really big;) - have a great evening everyone.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
