Hope everyone is well and coping in the affected areas.
Hopefully the rain will deter them somewhat.
23rd, ur party weekend sounded great.
Just made chicken salad with chicken left over from last night with reduced veg.
Son is making bread n butter pudding with bread I got for 9p, don't have nutmeg, but will use cinnamon instead.will post a pic when made.
Rain has bn falling all day today, so we had super lazy day today. Sometimes that makes me feel worse than being busy.Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Spiral, so glad your party went well - everything sounded great. Dizzy, glad your daughter arrived home safely. You can't turn off being a Mum, no matter what. But so sad to hear about those 3 lads who were killed, and praying this doesn't escalate.
When you consider the turmoil that is happening, the question of whether I save £5 on my shopping this week, or not, doesn't really matter.

Aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhh I need to go back to work! Holidays are BAD!;)
I've spent a FORTUNE this week already!
Have been doing some stocking up ....
Cats- Dry food - enough for approx 5 months!
- Wet food - as above (very good offers on both!)
- Litter - approx 2 months (going to try to keep most of this for both post op and also for the winter, ran out last year in the bad weather and don't want to go through that again!)
House
- Loo rolls - around 4 months. Home B*argains do really good quality quilted ones (18 pack @ £3.99). Much better than the usual cheap ones you get in some places. (If you get them, get the "nicky" ones, they do another range slightly cheaper but they are carp).
- Rice - again HB, packs of 1kg Tilda rice for 99p! (bought 4 which will probably do me at least 6 months!)
- Kitchen roll - 3 x 6 packs
Unessential (but nice)
Mr L were doing a pet week and had cat climbing posts for between £35 - £40. Was going to get one but they only had one "den" (have 2 cats) so had a trawl around elsewhere and found one on Zoo+ but it was £59!
Found one practically identical on e*bay and have been bidding all week (they were going for £41 + £10p&p so not a lot different from the Zoo+ one) and finally managed to get one for £21 yesterday:j:j.
It should arrive tomorrow so will give me something to do as it's still raining (what a week to have off work, torrential rain for 4 out of 5 days so far:mad:). The wee "darlings" better use it .... or else!:)
Here's hoping for a quiet night everywhere .....Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I've always meant to go, maybe this year will be my year (I've only lived here since 1998)
What a coincidence, my OH is just back from Edinburgh, he met our son who lives there and went to the rugby and ate at the Mosque kitchen, he came back raving about it two curries, rice and naan for less than a fiver! Apparently there is also a Mosque kitchen restaurant thats newly opened as well (used to be an Italian). Edinburgh is such a lovely city.0 -
managed a NSD yesterday. AND got ANOTHER bill from SSE>>> for 0.00!! in fact it implied they owed me 17.00!! the dispute is still active though, so i'm not counting my pennies till they are in my pocket... but it looks hopeful we wont have to pay the 170... unless of course NPower decided we owe it to them! we'll just have to seeRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. That must have been a worry Dizzie - I often spend nights waiting up late even when things are calm!
My daughter went to see the Railway Children at Waterloo on Tuesday and I made her stay with her friend elsewhere rather than them coming home here as apparently there was trouble round the corner but luckily it didn't amount to much.
As Sandra says we never stop worrying about them do we!
I have a headache from rather copious amount of wine at 'sister in laws' last night but will try and get on regardless as I still have so much to do to set the house to rights - it just doesn't seem to be unfolding!
Have a good peaceful and happy day everyone xHere dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

it's very quite in here this week, i guess whoever said there was more to worry about than saving a few pounds was right. Hugs to anyone feeling down.
i did something Ive NEVER done today...i walked into sainsburys and walked out with only what i wanted and NOTHING more... and more shocking what i wanted was just ONE tub of cheese sauce!!! i looked at a few storecupboard things we could do with but wasnt in the mood and the prices werent great, so just left! i then walked 10min to get to an indian corner shop a friend told me of and got paprika and cumin for much cheaper than the supermarket. and because i'd been so good i splashed out 79p on Chana Masala spices as its my fav takeaway side dish, and with dried mango in the mix it's not one i could make myself!
i also DIDNT buy any of the cross stitch mags in the CS. the lady assured me they'd not put any new one's out since last thurs so i didnt even look. odd i know! dont think i'm feeling myself to be honest.
i did however buy one of those narrow drawer short filing cabinets for 10.00 will have go pick it up tomorow or sat. i think it was a real bargain and know it will help my filing.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. halfway through the holidays! we have mice and fleas :-( since the cat has taken up residency on the kitchen table she doesn't go into the rest of the house so the fleas don't go onto her and die. I've put down loads of powder and traps for the mice. I caught one yesterday but last nights traps didnt get sprung so I bought better ones that I know will work today. anyway......
since I've resigned myself to making cat food milkshakes for the cat, and she is shiny glossy healthy looking although a bit freaked out by the floor (senile and blind) I can go away to see my folks for a few days, she can be cat sat by the neighbours. I've booked the train (with my half price railcard) and it's £30 for me and my son instead of £50 in petrol, and I won't be wiped out by the long drive. I'll take loads of packed lunch for the long journey!
I've cut back spending and eating a bit and stopped being so mopey, though I do feel a little bit black dog. It's only me that can change that. Onwards and upwards......0
