tumptyteapot - Sending hugs to you. Have you been to the doctor's about your knee? Is there any other vets around where you live that you can get help? Hope things work out for you.

Yes, it is a trapped nerve, I had some (concessionary rate) acupuncture on it a few days ago and it's much worse now, I see the physio the week after next, they say it is mendable but it will take time.
The other vets (I'm in Bristol) are just vets so I'll have to make a decision about the cat. I'll take her in so the vet can see it and get a quote on Wednesday anyway.

Just a quick pop in to say, woo a no spend day!! Am soo tired after a weekend of mammoth house warming party... The last 3 people only left at 10pm last night... Making us 32 hour party people!! Though there wasnt drinking on the second day, just lots of relaxing in the garden eating leftover buffet!

Re cat food... If it's only small pricks from claws, could u just use gaffer tape over the damaged area? I've no exp with pet food but gaffer keeps out moisture well as long as it has a good seal.

    Little update.
I'm skint. More than I should be. Dam this dating business.
Went to get my son a new bed, its £600 everywhere, but a place in town has it on sale as they want to clear the shop for refurb. Went to see it, but no way son could get out at nite if needed toilet, so have said I will think about it. Whilst their I seen an oak side board reduced to £200 and a lovely oak mirror for £40, so for all 3 it would be £540... was going to go see the guy and see if I could get them reduced even more, as they are good at giving discounts. I just need to see if they would swap the under bed stuff with the other mid bed so son could get in and out safely. Oh, and clean out living room n sons room too lol.

Thursday update: new underwear was not needed. Lol. We (or more like I ) got drunk, to 'calm the nerves' lol, and fell asleep. so much for sex goddess lol.

Tumpty, sorry to hear abt ur cat and knee.

Sandra, ur days out always sound soo great!

Their is more I want to quickly comment on, but as usual I can't remember who said what, and mortgage company just called me, out the blue, looks like I could be getting a better deal soon!!!

  • Thanks for the tips about the "claw pricks" - the bag is now covered in tape! Looks awful ... but better than it going soft!

Lola £600 for a bed:eek: I think I paid about £100 for mine! (must've gone up LOADS since then)! Not good as will need a new mattress soon:(.

Well, keep your fingers crossed it's fine tomorrow - off to the Fringe with DM for the day. Decided we're going to use the Park & Ride as will save a load of hassle. Will take about an hour to get in (from P&R) but a nice scenic journey - although I'm sure if it's your daily commute, it's tedious. DM has a bus pass and a day ticket will be about £3.50 for me - very useful as means we can "bus hop" as the foot's not up to walking very far ATM (+ for op!).

Been ages since I've been "into" town - I pop up fairly regularly but to the big retail parks on the outskirts and very rarely actually venture into the city centre (driving a nightmare due to the tram fiasco and parking difficult/expensive).

Oh, I tell a lie :o - I was in town to do a car boot a few weeks ago but it was literally a drive to Greenside and out again.

    Quite looking forward to it!:D

Have fun tomorrow risingfromtheashes - it's busy in town at the moment but really good atmosphere. I was at a show tonight and had a lovely time.

Check out the half-price hut on Princes St for cheap tickets to shows on the same day and there's loads of free Fringe things too. :D
  • Well, my days out might sound great, Lola, but I am so worried at what is happening in London, that my daughter & I have decided not to take DGD to Brighton on Wednesday.

The train from Victoria passes through Clapham Junction, Croydon etc, which at the moment are ablaze, and there's no knowing if we'd get there or back if stations and routes are closed. Several of my younger friends have had horrendous journeys home from work, because tube stations have been closed and bus routes diverted.

So they are coming over here, and we are going locally to Prezzo for lunch, and after that, I shall put the fountain on in the garden, and we can pretend it's sea spray! So I might have wasted the fare, but as it was only £2.50, for all of us, it's a frugal loss. And Brighton will still be there next year. :)

    xx
  • I think the cat has bad teeth and the vet said that could cost up to £400 :-( She probably only has a year or so left in her anyway she is ancient. Not sure what to do for the best. Her quality of life is good apart from only being able to eat liquidised cat food, her fur is gleaming, she is blind, likes sunbathing and sleeping and doing old cat things

Tumpty, I think the main thing is - do her teeth bother her?

My old dog has a couple of teeth that could really do with coming out but he's other medical problems and it's doubtful whether he'd survive the anaesthetic (sp?) so, as they don't bother him, and after discussion with my vet, I've decided to leave them alone.

Have a chat with the vet and see what they say (((hugs))) it's awful when they get old and/or sick.

Fantastic! Thanks Fresian - been ages since I've been.

Used to go all the time when I lived in town but been a bit lax the last couple of years now it's not right on my doorstep (bit cheeky when people come from all over the world and I'm around 25 miles away!)

Ooh also if you're going to be near Bristo Sq, apparently the Mosque Kitchen is really good, cheap and delicious and during the festival they give free tours round it.

I've always meant to go, maybe this year will be my year (I've only lived here since 1998 :o)

they bother her if she tries to eat anything lumpy but I am making her cat food milkshakes and she is fine with that - she is eating them well, she is still heavy, so on the whole I'd say they dont bother her.
