Frugal Living Challenge 2011 - Part 3.

Had an early morning swim in the outdoor pool so have had a little spend.
The day turned from blah to glorious and I missed the hoards!
I am feeling so pleased with myself as I have gone from not being able to get up until about 3pm a couple of years ago to swimming early morning!
I'm going to have a hot bath and then I am going to take my elderly neighbour out in her wheel chair for the first time.
She is stuck home alone apart from carers popping in briefly and is very bored and lonely! Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Hello everyone  Hope you're all well!
rubytuesday I'm sorry you have an idiot following you around. It makes you wonder what's going on in their life if they spend time harassing people on a forum that is part of such a helpful and supportive online community...
Went out last night (armed with vouchers!) with a few friends, one of whom has just gotten engaged. He asked me to sing at his wedding ceremony :j:dance: It's not until spring 2013 but it's made me so happy!!!
Off to France Saturday morning for a few days with BF's parents, sister and BIL, so heading to Kent tomorrow night to get the Eurostar. I've been under the Channel before, but it always unneeves me to think I'm under that much water  Looking forward to get away for a few days, it's been a fantastic year so far but it's been really hard work, studying 35 hours a week plus commuting and working two jobs, just need to make sure we don't go crazy with money once we get there2019 Aim: Save £10,000
Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now0 -

Thought I would pop my head in and found a new thread
I have been so busy the last few months I haven't kept up but have not fallen off the wagon either.
I have been sewing and knitting, babysitting and looking after a family member who suddenly became unwell. Hopefully that will be sorted soon as I am beginning to want my weekends back ( I stay there friday to Sunday but only at night). It still seems to take a lot of my time though.

Thanks, Lingojingo, I got there in the end. :j'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Hi peeps!!
Had a nasty cold for the past few days.
Dropped DS off at DD so he could watch the footie and on the way back we drove past one of the posh houses with a skip outside. On top of the skip was a roll of carpet. DH asked the man if we could have it and he was just glad to get more space in his skip :j:j
Brand new piece of EXPENSIVE carpet for nothing is now getting fitted in DS bedroomDownside is we have bought paint and spent all day painting instead of pottering in the garden
I reckon we have just saved ourselves £50 on buying a new carpet we were going to go out and buy while DS visited his dad in the hols. After all the trouble people have had with skips lately I feel very lucky!
DH goes into hospital tomorrow so I must get organised.
Hope everyone is well

Hi everyone, just a quick catch up - welcome to newcomers!
Spiral know how you feel - I got my bike out yesterday to find the front tyre flat as a pancake. Looks like a trip to bike shop for me as changing inner tubes is beyond my beginner's capabilities yet (hoping he may let me watch). I'm going to have another go at pumping it up (tried yest but didn't get very far) ..... Also, congrats on the mags!
PIC congrats on the carpet, I managed to get a small bit last year (Freecycle) which was just big enough for my wee room and, what a difference it's made. Not perfect but a huge improvement on what was there before. Wishing DH all the best for tomorrow.
Rictus thanks for that link - do you know if they do one every month? August would be impossible for me (2 weeks hols) and also still working on the "stocking up" for after my op ... but I could try in September!
Ruby that early morning swim sounds fantastic!
I'm still updating the SOW - actually pretty amazed at myselfas I'm not known to be good at sticking to things.
Peas are all ready so will be picking, blanching and freezing at the weekend (need to try to defrost the freezer beforehand somehow) and beans are about the size of the top bit of my finger:) - there are 0000s of them!
Been raining and miserable here all day - can't believe the contrast from yesterday when it was a "proper" July day and hot and sunny - strange world we live in!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
