  • Evening all, how is everyone today?

I had a good day with more xmas gifts today, 5 hello kitty items on amazon, should have cost £17.01, but it cost me £0.00 :j
I used evouchers from my Yoursaypays.com account (this is a survey website, really worthwhile.)

Also 24 cans of kitekate for £10.60 on amazon, but i used £10 from my MySurvey.com account (another good survey site), so these also cost me nothing as it was free delivery and the change i had from the hello kitty items covered the 60p and i still had money left in my amazon account.

    woohoo. :rotfl:

    Hello fellow frugallers:j
Thanks for the heads up on the soya mix DL - I already regularly use the frozen veggie mince but this would give something new to try. We're not a veggie household but find it makes an excellent meat substitute. With regards to free range meat etc- I'm not completely there yet but now I am part time and sometimes strike lucky with the whoopsies I have been able to buy a lot more free range stuff as it's been reduced to a price I can afford.

For those of you interested in war time food- the Marguerite Patten books are good starters.

As ever busy frugalling here at GBT:D Had a £25 win on the premium bonds so Mr GBT and I have decided on one of the meals for 2 for £10 as a treat as the small person is away this weekend. Have also received my first money from my newest job which is rather jolly! Our kettle [came from freecycle] is on its last legs and am very blessed to have been offered a replacement this evening. Further amazon voucher earnt today and have made a necklace for my MIL as part of her Christmas present [she has advanced dementia but still enjoys her jewellery] from the wooden beads I bought last summer.
This weekend will see me transferring the mincemeat into jars and Mr GBT is going to start off a batch of sloe wine.

For anyone who has a small person who is interested in knots my chappie joined the International Guild of Knotters a few days ago- it's free membership for under 18s and he got a pack through very quickly. Possibly not how I'd choose to spend my spare time but then I think he feels the same way about my knitting:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Oh wow, thanks for all the links, I'll log onto the library website tomorrow and see if any of those books are there. Need to buy some sugar as the weekly sugar allowance is more than we usually use, but we will be making biccies instead of eating jammy dodgers :-)

  • Seen this on Facebook.
Photobox UK are doing a buy now create later , up to 14 days later, via the link on their Facebook page, and it takes u to 70% off. I had a look and it looks good. Posters for £8 canvas', mugs, calendars etc.... I'm going to have a proper look later tonight... but the 70% is not on normal website, so get adding them on fb.(no way affiliated with them, have bought stuff previously, and all good quality that I received)

Cherryjack welcome to the thread :hello:

Spent £3.18 yesterday and have used around 97% of food in the kitchen. I really do need to do a 'big' (ish) shop now and I've thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. It's taught me that with a bit of thought and a determination to be mindful of what I buy, I can stop money slipping through my fingers.
I'm in a bit of a quandry because I don't know whether to do a big ish shop for the week with a planned menu and shop accordingly, or whether to plan tea the night before and get the ingredients for it on the way home from work.
I'm going to continue with the £1 coins though whichever I decide.
