glad to help hun. you dont need to put loads of biscuits when soaking as they tend to go about 6 times the size lol, so you can actually see how much your cat is eating as well.
this has saved me quite alot on wastage.0 -
Purpleorchid - great suggestion to soak the dried cat food. My cat is getting on a bit and has become quite fussy so I'll give that a go. Waste frustrates me.
23rdspiral - if you feel a bit unhappy with buying battery chickens pop into a co-op if you have one near to you. My local one puts free range whole chickens on offer quite regularly for around £2.50 - a fraction more than you pay but not much.
Don't know whether anyone has noticed but Tesco has baby shampoo on offer for just 9p for 500mls. Its great, I'm buying it for the whole family, its gentle and has a lovely fragrance.
A few souls have mentioned prepping for 2012 - I just wondered what this involved?Pay off as much as you can 2011 challenge member 15:

You would think baby products would be the safest of all wouldn't you.
But there has been a long running dispute with at least one manufacturer. Check this out.

Re 'prepping', I'm not sure whether that and 2012 should be mentioned in the same breath. I do know one or two people who are stocked up with anything from a few weeks to a few months of food and non food products - as a hedge against inflation and even to cover them over periods of possible civil unrest, power failures etc. People don't realise how tenuous shop stocks are and how quickly shelves would be bare in a crisis.
We have enough reasons to be concerned about what is happening in the world right now without needing to bring the Mayan calendar/2012 hype into the mix.0 -

Eeek I didn't know that baby products were so unsafe! I agree you'd think they'd be rigorously checked. Thanks for the links pineapple and tumptyteapot. I'll be more careful what I buy from now on.:oPay off as much as you can 2011 challenge member 15:

Dizzy - I've not done much crochet since miss turtle and little dino
I've started a few projects and then rip them out a few hours later as I just can't get into them. Although I have started a baby blanket, 10 rows of a granny square in white... hoping to get at least 25 done in white and then a few in a colour suitable when baby arrives (any day now!) But I have no interest in it just now. I really want to make loads but I think I have too much going on in my head to let me do anything other than vegitate!
Regarding the baby shampoo, always hated Johnson n .... I have a box of the stuff under my bed from when son was born, all gifted to us in some form or another. I don't want to pour it out, as its poisonous/toxic etc and don't want to regift it either, for same reasons.
I've always bought halos n hornes bath n most care products, as its cheapest of the 'safe' products, and I could get it in a local store, whereas other products where only by internet.
Thanks for the link on calpol. Again always hated the stuff, we always get the generic unbranded white/clear stuff from our pharmacy.(I will b passing that link along to my friends) very interesting to see how little this government/health department actually cares (not just current gov, but those who are in charge, oh on a slightly different topic, but related... I mentioned on her in June I think, that we had local elections due to the death of our MP... and Labour won again, although with not as big a lead as normal, and I sort of predicted us to be 'left out/taught a lesson/whatever this is called' , well, approved funding from the SNP gov has been pulled, but the town can bid for it in the future. This was to build affordable / council homes, old folk homes etc... we don't get anything from the Torys, not after they destroyed our town the last time. A bit if public outcry at it all, but seriously did they think that after voting against the 2 governments in control, that we would get anything?! )
I had to give a statement to the police on Sat nite. A fight broke out between 2 people, I missed it as I had went upstairs to get help as I thought something was brewing, by time we can downstairs, the guy had his head smashed with a jug apparently. Their was a depression in to his head the size of a golf ball and u could see the bone. He is ok. Was walking and talking after it. The CID are looking to talk to me, but so far they haven't called, they contacted my boss for my number.Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Aw Lola thats a shame about the crochet. You had made such cute little things too. I know what you mean though, you have to be in the 'mood' to do it. I'm not crocheting at the moment. I'm doing a little cross stitch and knitting some wristwarmers. Not too taxing.
Crikey that fight sounded horrific. Glad you weren't too close to that!
slowly glad you're listening to your body.
You know it makes sense
Spends to day were £5.31p. Popped into Mr Ms on way home from picking up my glasses. Normally I would have whipped round throwing things in for tea willy nilly, but I thought about what I was buying and instead of pop (what a word) I bought some own brand sparkling water at 18p to have with the lime cordial we already have and it's delicious. Got oranges reduced to 25p and brie to 79p which I wanted anyway. Few other bits and the lovely assistant took £1.75 dog food vouchers off me even though I only bought one box
So I came in under my £7 budget. But there really isn't much at all in the cupboards and freezer. Never have they been so empty.
I love it :rotfl:As long as we don't get a six foot deep unexplained snowfall in the night. Thinking about it I'm sure I should be stocking up. just 'cos you never know...aargh what should I do?
Lunches at work are homemade soup, though I've run out of that now so probably take peanut butter sandwiches and a banana tomorrow.
It will get harder this food challenge as I'm running out of food but this brief trial has been brilliant in showing me that not only am I getting better at keeping money in my purse but it feels sooooo good to know that I'm not buying just for the sake of it. A win all round.
Hope everyone is ok this evening

I read somewhere (I so wish I could find it) that infant formula has less safety checks than cat food.0
