  • Tumpty thanks for the links xx

I don't know how old my mum was so can't really work it out. My mother never even talks about gas bills never mind health issues, short of tying her up and interrogating her I will never know :o

What a wonderful scene that evokes Sandra. Playing with ordinary household items & lots of imagination! I've got a vision of something by Mabel Lucie Atwell!! ;)

I looked a lot like a Mabel Lucy Attwell child! Podgy face, long ringlets, the obligatory satin bow in my hair, Mary Jane shoes, and short frilly dresses.

My DGC and various young relatives enjoyed all this, but seemed to tire at a comparitively young age. I have a photo of myself with a large doll, on a day trip to Southend, and I was 11. Nowadays, you often see 11 year olds with their own Real Life Baby Doll!!

Had a great frugal day.:) DH and I went to BHS and used our internet coupons for a lunch of free Fish, Chips and Peas, and tap water.:T Then we had a mooch round the shops and returned for Afternoon Tea for 2, for the special price of £4.99, with coupon.

We ate the scones with jam and clotted cream and strawberries and drank the coffee, but bought the prawn sandwiches home for later. BTW, took my dog for his check-up with the nurse, who kindly squeezed half a tube of doggy toothpaste into a pot, and gave me 5 packets of free samples of crunchy thingies to clean his teeth!

Thanks silva - will give that a go.
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.

Sandra how is your hubby doing is he any better?

Actually now I'm wondering if I'm getting in a muddle?

No, you're not getting in a muddle - that's me!!! Some days are better than others, but the dementia side is worse, and it is so frustrating when he can't remember words.

For example, last night he was trying to remember a word, and he said to me "what do you call a small sheep" - so I thought it was a joke and answered "sheepish"! But the word he wanted was "lamb" and once I'd provided it, he'd forgotten why he wanted it.

This all comes under the umbrella of Multiple System Atrophy, but now it appears one of his kidneys has atrophied so we have a fresh set of problems.

  • Having posted about DH's dementia, I recorded a programme yesterday about Bobby Moore, which lasted for 2 hours. DH has just finished watching it, and managed to name every player that was shown, and who they played for.

Then whilst I was fast forwarding through an interval, he got very upset, and when I asked why, he said he couldn't remember the name of the player that the programme was about.

It is so frustrating for him, and upsetting for me, and this is in addition to the physical problems that he has - but who hasn't got problems of one sort or another?

  • 51 is the average age but it is anything between 44 and 58 generally.

Oh no, don't say that's another thing I need to start to worry about soon:( (nearly 40) - was very young starting so don't know if that makes any difference?

Sandra, hugs to you & DH, dementia is a terrible disease and very frustrating for the carers and sufferers alike.

  • Reading and running just now...

Hugs to Sandra.(and anyone else who would like some)

Son went to caravan with parents for a week, I stayed at Mr F's place most nights (oh to pretend I have no responsibilities !!)
I've since binned 20 bags of 'junk'/paperwork/rubbish. A lot I wouldn't have binned, but I had my parents helping and they bin everything!
Sold 13 bin bags of clothes!!! Got £37. I know I would have gotten soo much more via e bay etc, but I never list it, and have bn saying for months/years.
    So nearly a fresh start.
Only 2 rooms then the loft to go!

I need to read back a page or 2 to catch up xxx
