  • What age do you start going through the change??

How old was your mum when she went through it because it may give you an idea of when you will - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18779679

I'm 44, been on the mini pill for 3 years, came off 3 months ago and nothing, no mood fluctuations, no anything so that might be it for me. I get a bit hotter than I used to at night, otherwise all is fine. Though it might not be my time yet - my mums was late 40's.

The NHS say the average age is 52 - this is really usefulhttp://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/menopause/Pages/Introduction.aspx
  • Tumpty thanks for the links xx

I don't know how old my mum was so can't really work it out. My mother never even talks about gas bills never mind health issues, short of tying her up and interrogating her I will never know :o

    Hi Natnat

    Good bargains there Mooloo!

Paidin 51 is the average age but it is anything between 44 and 58 generally.

Peri menopause is the period leading up to it.

I'm fifty next April and am having a blood test on Thursday as I have been feeling very weepy and out of sorts and am also getting very hot and pouring with sweat at times.

I had a test in February but it didn't show anything.
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.

  • rising from the ashes, sandra, dizzy lizze and ruby - Many thanks for your kind messages. Much appreciated. At the weekend we went round to see my other aunt who lives near by. She was away at her daughter's last week.

Did save some money at a well know chemist, by buying 3 for 2 on shampoo, conditioner and hairspray. Should last into the first few months of next year. Still checking Mr A's price guarantee and getting some money off, not alot but every little bit helps.

Hugs to those who need them.

Just a quickie for all you ladies approaching 'that age'

Both my Mum & 1 found that Starflower Oil 500mg taken once a day really improved our 'Tropical Moments' I also found it helped me greatly with the awful tearful times. I think you need to give it at least 4/6 weeks - some have found it works pretty quickly & for some no effect at all but its worth a try if you prefer something more natural
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Just a note to say Lidl has some Team GB 2012 merchandise in atm (rubbers and stickers etc)...might be good for stocking fillers?
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment
