Hi
There are only three Exam boards now, and they can provide a certificate of attaiment if you need one, but it can take 6 weeks, so you need to get your skates on with that.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks RAS, how do I get that? I don't know which exam board did what exam. Someone on DFW suggested getting in touch with my school/college and seeing if they'd write a letter confirming my grades. Or there's always the SAR route to the exam boards, I don't know if that'd include the right info, or go far enough back?
If I can just write/email the exam boards and ask for replacement certs for any quals I got with them and send a cheque that'd be fab. The application doesn't have to be in until the end of August, although the sooner the better. As a minimum I just need my GCSE English and A level results (they ask for proof of GCSE maths, but as I have AS level maths I'm assuming that supercedes GCSE).Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
So glad to hear that things are going better, and great news about the insurance!
Bizarrely, not necessarily ... I think I heard of someone recently who had a bit of a battle to be accepted onto a PGCE because they had skipped GCSE Maths (for some reason, don't remember what) and only had a higher level qualification. Do you have GCSE maths?(they ask for proof of GCSE maths, but as I have AS level maths I'm assuming that supercedes GCSE).
BTW, I'm fairly sure that if it's NOT for a PGCE then it will be less of an 'issue': Universities have a fair amount of latitude over qualifications for mature students, there's more rigidity over teaching qualifications.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Do you have GCSE maths? Ok, that's a bit odd! Then again, a few years ago it was in the papers about a teacher having to take GCSE maths to teach in a secondary school, even though he had a PhD in physics! I do have GCSE maths, I was just being a bit of a skinflint thinking I could get out of paying for the replacement cert. Though I guess with the insurance I don't really need to fret about a tenner or so.

RAS - thanks so much for taking the time to dig out those links, going to go peruse now.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Typical - I did maths GCSE early in the November, which means paying extra for the proof instead of being lumped in with the others.
Still, it's worth it if I get onto the degree course.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
GCSE maths is a prerequistite for a teaching qualification - other than that, as a mature student there's more leeway
I have a degree now - and only 1 actual A level
glad it's all being sorted...been a but busy so not able to keep upDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

I've just worked out that it's going to cost me over £400 to get the proof _pale_
I'm going to try and get in touch with my old school and college, see if they can give me proof, or if not tell me what the exam boards would have been, then I only need to apply twice for the GCSE's (for English and Maths), and hopefully the A levels wont all be different boards, so that might be cheaper.
And spend the next few days searching high and low for the certs.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
It is a horrid thing to lose a parent, especially the way you did with a long illness. It took me a long time to accept it when my Mum died and trawling through all her personal things just felt wrong. Luckily I had 2 sisters to share the load with and we were able to do things at our own speed.
I know you are probably well organised by now but when my Mum died we took all the bits out of the flat that we wanted and all the photo's and paperwork (so we could go through these at our own pace and in our own home) and then got a house clearance company in to take everything else.
There were 2 ways of doing this. One just cleared everything and would have charged us, the other arrived one morning with a removal lorry and walked round checking what they would get at auction for anything of value and gave us a price. From this they deducted the cost of disposal of the rest and gave us an amount. We ended up getting £200 to let them clear the place and they took the whole lot and left us with empty rooms. If you want more details let me know. It may be easier to do the decorating if it was empty or emptier.
We put her flat up for sale in the December and it took us until the following September to find a buyer and complete the sale. But this was in an over 55's complex so a bit niche market really. But just wanted to make you aware that it can take a long time.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0
