£35 for me today in Te$co. Should have enough for meals for this week. I've lost my meal plan - I always write on paper, maybe this will teach me to do it on the laptop. Ah well. I'm sure I can sort of remember it. We have younger dog's booster tomorrow so I'm trying to be good money-wise this week!
Off to read back through the thread and see how you're all doing!

  • I've just been through freezer, fridge and cupboards and have menu planned for the next 2 weeks with what I have in already. I just need to get some veggies and fruit. This challenge will focus me on making the most of what I have instead of just grabbing anything to hand. We'll all benefit from this in the long run :D.
5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
    Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
    Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
    By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00

Mr S delivery. Total £24.53 after £29 coupons and special offers £5.84. Got some good basics in. Nothing fresh as we go away on Saturday. Most expensive item £10 on Durex:rotfl:as I still haven't got rid of this stomach bug. Grrrr.

No shopping planned until we leave.
    GC Mar 13 £47.36/£150
  • Thanks Rosie. I used to do this challenge a couple years ago. Never managed it though ;). But as long as it focuses me on keeping spends down as much as I can then that'll do for me.

I won't go into detail but suffice to say that the experts' worst fears were not confirmed and I will be with you for some time yet, thankfully. I hope everyone else who had such a difficult spring is starting to get better too.

    All the best,

So happy you are getting better. You have made my day by posting. x

Decided to cancel the Mr T's delivery, as been on night shift, and could not do with putting the shopping away when tired!, and the £10 off did not make up for the general high price of the shopping!

Went to Mr M's on Sunday instead, and spent £62, with enough for the rest of this week and next too, hopefully.
Stocked up on the 50p milk, and did another picnic on Sunday. Went to a friends airfield, and had a go at flying a plane.

Supper tonight is spag bol in the SC, with the 10p pasta from Mr T's, and value garlic bread (too tired to do HM). Enough left for a lasagne tomorrow. Will also do OH a chilli tomorrow, and portion it up to go with the rice that I had delivered from Amazon.

Still got plenty in, but kids are home now and eating everything that is not nailed down. Got some cereal from Amazon too, so saved there. Making a boiled fruit cake to keep them off the crisps etc.
Have a great afternoon all, and happy money saving!

First month of trying this challenge & had a blip already :( Was away on a hen weekend to Alton Towers, came back late on Sunday & had to rush into Co-0p & get stuff for lunches during the week, spent £15, then did my A$da shop yesterday and spent £46. Got t-in-the-park this weekend, so expecting the same problem. I'm off work on Monday though, so maybe hubby could just starve for a day!!
On the plus side i did get 2 cheese & onion pasties for 22p, 2 brown seeded bagels for 20p and a chocolate cake for 45p :D
3 more Sundays in July = £46 average per week :undecided

  • Oh dear, shopping again... only went out for some milk! :o

A$da have an offer on Fairy Liquid, the really big bottles are £1 (for about 740ml I think). That's the best price I've seen them (usually about £1.50) so I bought 5 and I'm hoping they will last til the end of the year... or maybe that's a bit optimistic

Stockpiling is sort of paying off so far, the coffee I like was £1.50 for 100g so I bought 4 jars, now it's £3.99

SP pasta was 17p a bag and I noticed that Mr T's had put theirs up to 32p so I bought about 15 bags and sure enough A$da are now charging about 32p too.

    Got a few whoopsies too.

My sister told me that she spends £150 a month on food for herself & her housemate and 2 other girls that hang around for dinner most nights. She said they only bother going to the supermarket once a month! And that's without any MSE tips & advice or guidance from anyone. Puts me to shame :o:o:o

Off to update my sig...
