    Hi Annie
The cake is fab well done. How do you do the writing and keep it so neat and is it a real wonka bar or one you have made its great.

Has anyone froze their cakes before decorating? Was hoping to bake dd birthday cake and freeze it until Tuesday then decorate it for her birtday on Wed but not sure what it will be like when defrosted. Any advise is appreciated
    TIA

Thanks awesome. The writing is cut out with a scalpel, and was very fiddly. I made it, and it's bright pink, and bubblegum flavour inside :)

Freezing cakes is absolutely fine, before decorating. It helps to keep them fresh of you don't have time to do it all at once. Just make sure you wrap it well in cling film.
  • Thanks Annie will have to get some clingfilm bought some freezer bags yesteday thinking I could use those (typical)
The wonka bar sounds delish is it bubblegum flavoured sugarpaste?

    Thanks

Freezer bags are ok, as long as the cake will fit into them.

The sugarpaste wasn't flavoured, as I didn't want to make it sticky. The cake and buttercream were dyed pink and flavoured with LorAnn oils.

Hi first time of posting o this board, been lurking for ages! You are all so clever I wish I had even a quater of your talent!
I just wanted to know where I could buy glittter for cupcakes from, not the sugar strands the really tiny glitter, like normal glitter but edible! Also just found these on the internet http://www.gourmetmomonthego.com/2011/04/push-pop-cakes.html and wonder if anyone on her has made them and how difficult they are? xx

    Hello! :hello: welcome aboard!
Normally, the glitter you buy for cakes isn't technically edible, but it's non toxic. I use that anyway, and no one has died from eating my cakes :p I'm sure you can get edible glitter, but it's probably expensive.

Push pops are fiddly, and I'm not convinced they're worth it tbh. You can just make mini muffins to pop into them, making it a bit easier, then squirt you buttercream in, but it's hard not to get them messy.

Thank you Annie, I didn't know that about the glitter, we had some on our wedding cup cakes (made by a friend) and everyone commented how good they looked have only been able to find glitter sugar strands so far
I though push pops looked a bit fiddly,I am having my first go at cake pops and they seems fiddly enough for me :)

I noticed my local Asda had edible glitter in silver, gold, blue & red, although the red looked pink to me! I think it was about £1.80 a pot.
