Hi Cherrydee
Are they big ones or small ones? If they are small think I would go for buttercream purley because thye would be eaiser to place and move around if they are not quite right.
HTH
Yes, I would say they are small I only half filled the cases and most have still gone to a peak...if using glace icing I would have to cut the peak off to flatten them. I've only used toppers on glace icing and you have to be so careful they don't get too wet as they just disintegrate and you have to put them on just before serving... Do you think using buttercream I would get away with putting the toppers on today or should I wait until tomorrow to put the toppers on the buttercream.0 -
After some advice ladies please...busy making some choc chip cupcakes for my grandsons 4th birthday party tomorrow. Bought some Mickey & Minnie rice paper toppers...which do you think will give the best effect putting them onto glace icing (just plain icing sugar/water) or do a vanilla buttercream...apparently they look clearer on a white background....so no good doing chocolate topping !
I would stick them onto some rolled fondant, Put cocktail sticks in and when they're dry, stick them into the top of the cupcake0 -
excellent cakes ladies, loving the chocolate strawberry cupcakes juniee, and cookiedough I love that cake, its so cute!! I really like the wedding cake golden anenome! I am so going to have to make that good food recipe at some point!
so, I finally made the cake for my mums 65th birthday party last night, it went down really well, I was so chuffed with the recipe and how the icing went, although its still not very smooth but I'm getting better. I'm happy as this is the first big cake I have iced, its not as easy as it looks is it?? LOL I am really glad though that I didnt try and attempt a 3 tier one now, I would have been up all night!!!
Here's some pics of the finished cake -You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

Hi Cherrydee
I would wait and pop them on tomorow just to make sure they dont go soggy. Have you tried hollowing your mix this stops the doming you just need to make a indent with the back of a teaspoon on the top of the mix and they will rise evenly:p
Dont think I would have the patience with the toppers and the glace icing I think I woukld end up with blue air if I had to keep sliding about trying to get them central :rotfl:

Hi
I was looking for some advice on making a Scooby Doo cake for ds's 4th birthday? Was thinking of chocolate frosting for the top to look like Scoobs fur? Am lost on everything else though, any advice greatly appreciated xxx'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

Golden Anemone
Your cakes look lovely can I ask where you got the decoration for the wedding cake from?
TIA
Thank you. They were a classic case of simple but effective. I ordered them from the Craft Company website. A bunch of heart shaped clear gems on silver wire stuck in the middle of the top tier and one 2m length of silver wire with clear gems on it joined to the bunch on top and wound round the three tiers to the bottom. They don't appear to have the 2m length of clear gems in stock at present - just pink and lilac.0 -
Hi Cherrydee
Have a good day tomorrow let us know how it goes
Just had a phone call from my daughter, they were at a barbecue and some kid pushed him from the trampoline and he's fell hard on his face...so he's got a large egg on his head and the side of his face is badly bruised, she thought his arm might of been broken but luckily it's not. Took ages to calm him down...but he's asleep now in her bed. So the birthday boy is going to look a real treat for his birthday party photos tomorrow. I just want to give him a big hug...I'll not sleep tonight now.
PS Thanks for the tips...especially the teaspoon one !0 -
Oh Cherydee, I'm sorry about your grandson. I'm glad nothing was broken and hope his bruises go down soon x0

Whenever I need inspiration for a cake, I do a Google image search to get some ideas. Good luck, and don't forget to post pics0
