The alcohol will evaporate, so there won't be any trace of it when the times comes to eat the cake

Unfortunately.........though must admit, not for a one year old, but sure the parents could use the vodka :)

Hi prob a very simple question but what is the best thing to use as "glue"? i am in the process of making a blue iced cake and want to stick icing ducks to it to make it look like a pond but dont want to see whatever is being used as glue any suggestions?

Might sound odd, but I just use water as a 'glue' I use a small paintbrush and just need a tiny amount of water to stick pieces of icing together. Works really well.

Edit to add: Just noticed that someone else suggested not to use water as it goes sticky. I have never had a problem with this before myself. As I said you only need a tiny amount and use a paintbrush.

Ive heard about that b4 but its for a 1 year old so cnt :( thanks for telling me about water was gonna try it glad i didnt would have ruined the cake lol

You only use the tiniest bit and it evapourates. The bottle I use holds less than a single shot and has lasted me literally years!!! Professional cake maker use it and would do for kids cakes. You'd have to eat about 10 million (and I do mean that literally!) cakes for it to have any effect!

has anyone tried the chocolate fudge recipe on Lindy Smith's blog? It is devine, I love it, and it keeps for ages. Best choc cake I have baked in ages.

Hobby craft sell loads of different ribbons, take them to the counter and get them cut to your length. HOWEVER they also sell whole reels of ribbon in another section, by the false flowers and its a lot cheaper. £2.99 for a large reel. BARGAIN! So always check the whole store before choosing your ribbon. Their staff showed me them.
