Thanks Nanamia I have been struggling with sizes and mixture:p
I usually do two seperate cakes in two deep sandwich tins but wanted to have a go at using one deep one Have looked at the maderia recipe before several times wondering if it will be enough mix so glad you have confirmed this. Did you put the two baking trays in the oven and the water? and was the square cake you made this weekedn the same quantities
Thanks0 -

I'm going to be making cupcakes for my daughter's friend baby shower......anyone got any ideas or inspiration to get me going. Anybody got any photos to share ?
cherydee, ive never made baby shower cupcakes, but i have been lusting over baby feet and bib moulds! so cute!
You could do a buttercream swirl with a plaque with the feet or bibs on top..
Have also seen babys in blankies but those look like they would take a long time!We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Ooh love your giant cupcake Golden, very tasteful:) lucky friend bet she was delighted.
And Becs I love your sunflower cupcakes saw them on my phone at first and it wasn't until I put the iPad on I realised they were Oreos (ha I'm getting old- my eyes are rubbish) Hope you don't mind me suggesting but think they look fab with a fondant bumble bee when they are in the pots for the fete:) Forgive my cheek!!!
I did cookies in a jar for one of my nephews for Christmas too, they look so good don't they and so quick to whip up - love your labels though they do look fab.
Awesome yes I used a roasting tin filled with water in the oven (under the cake tin) whilst the cake baked and triple wrapped the outside of the tin with brown paper. The combination worked a treat the edges of the cake remained soft whilst the cake cooked right through:) The communion square cake this weekend was huge 10" square I used the basic Madeira doubled so 700g etc and 12 eggs!
Mogwai google baby shower cupcakes there are loads of really cute ideas, now I want to do a baby shower:)The secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do at Christmastime
But the Christmas things you do

Golden anenome - your giant cupcake is gorgeous! I have the tin as well but always struggle a bit to decorate it - do you use a 2D tip for the rose swirls? And do you do the rose bits first then fill in the rest?
Loving all the cakes here, I just started doing cakes this year and am really enjoying it but theres sooo much to learn, its getting addictive now..
Thank you mogwai - yes, it's a 2D tip. I decorate the bottom half first then do the roses. That way you can let the roses overlap a little with the bottom which looks better than a hard line and possibly a few gaps.
Thanks everyone for the comments. Gorgeous sunflower cupcakes Becs.
My sister's cupcake was exactly what she wanted but I felt less successful than my friend's. There are too many different [clashing] shades of pink in this one for me. She specifically asked for pink fondant icing on the bottom half - I iced it upside down then turned it over and fixed it to the board with buttercream. The buttercream then dried quite a different shade than it when I mixed it. However Catherine was over the moon which after all is what counts.0 -
Nanamia I hadn't thought about a bumble bee but was going to do a ladybird using a red m & m! I think I may also try the mini oreos as not sure if the petals are really long enough.0

Hoping to pick the experts brains please!! Ordered my sugar flair paste for my "mater" cake that I plan to make using roll on icing. I need to stick eyes, bumper, mouth etc on can I do this by using icing sugar and water or am I best to invest in some edible glue?? many thanks in advance for any advice0

If it's to stick fondant to fondant then plain water will be fine. Key is to use as little as possible so it doesn't mark the icing - the surface should be moist, not wet.0

I just use water as well Bobbis Mum x0
