I love the simplicity of this, it's so elegant and very impressive. A real girly cake!

Forgot to post apic of the cookie jars I did for my nephews. They were delighted with them and couldn't wait to bake them. They turned out really well and were easy to do.

And the box of macaroons I did for my dad, orange and hazelnut, coconut and pineapple, coffee and walnut and finally earl grey and blueberry.

Wow becs, the macaroons look so professional - and what great flavour combinations, you really put a lot of thought into it!

Can I ask a stupid q plse? The cookie jars are visually stunning - but how exactly did your nephews use them?

The cookie mix was great, it had a little instructions sticker on the back but basically they tipped the whole lot into a bowl and mixed with 1 egg and 110g of really softened butter then just mixed it all together and rolled out little balls onto a baking tray. Dead simple so it was only an egg an the butter that they had to add to it.

    Hey everyone,

I really hope you don't mind me asking but I'm quite new to cake decorating as I started in February. I have entered a competition with my 4th cake to win online cake tuition which I know would really help me improve my skills.

This is the cake I've entered - if you like it please click 'like' on the photo which will cast your vote. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=350362578367752&set=p.350362578367752&type=1&theater&notif_t=photo_comment Thank you so much!

Oh and if anyone wants to follow my new facebook page 'A Flutter of Fondant', I welcome you all.

    Thanks everyone!

Golden anenome - your giant cupcake is gorgeous! I have the tin as well but always struggle a bit to decorate it - do you use a 2D tip for the rose swirls? And do you do the rose bits first then fill in the rest?

Loving all the cakes here, I just started doing cakes this year and am really enjoying it but theres sooo much to learn, its getting addictive now..
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

Most recipes will ether use plain flour and baking powder for the "rise" or s/r flour. I've not used many with both but assume it would give you a denser sponge. Cake flour is s/r that is very fie. It's in a blue packet made by mcdougalls I think.

My first attempt at sunflower cupcakes. Think I'm going to do these in a terracotta pot for the fete competition.
