Hi Moosetastic, those cases are soooo pretty! Did you buy the small or the large ones for 'normal' sized cupcakes?
Hi Sk00bie, thank you so much for the comments! I got the large ones. The cupcakes I made were muffin size, they say something like 5cm across the base, and they fitted fine. I would say if you are doing "normal" bun size then go for the small.
I've been bad and bought one more of each colour!! Got them from a hong kong seller as they were a bit cheaper (£2.25 for 30) but the p&p is extortianate!!! Will definitely be buying from i need cake in the future I think LOL :rotfl:You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

How do you do the thick icing on those? do you roll it out and cut into rounds or is it runny and poured on?£2 Savers Club 2011 (putting towards a deposit

I love this thread, I look at it every day to see what has been posted. I don't do a lot of cakes, but I am now a Nanny and look forward to making cakes for my grandchildren. What I am looking for are the letters (upper and lower case) that are put on cakes. I have looked them up but there are so many to choose from. I was hoping you lovely ladies could recommend some for me that are easy to use. I like the look of the cutter ones. I would be very grateful for any help. Well done again for the lovely cakes and many ideas.0

Its white sugarpaste, rolled out and cut into circles (i used my largest tala cutter) and then just tapped them around the edge.
We had them tonight and they were gorgeous! think next time I'll use a tiny bit of jam glaze to stick the icing on as I just laid it on the buns, but they were yummy! You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

Awww thank you NanamiaThey are the most sophisticated ones I have done so far. They were fiddly (it took me over 2 hours to do a dozen!) but they were easy really. The roses are just thin strips of sugarpaste rolled up and pinched underneath. The leaves were made with my little heart shaped plunger cutter, then just marked them with a cocktail stick to make the pattern on them
Finally, I just made a tiny amount of icing and piped on the dots and swirls and things.
Next time, I'm going to emboss the white sugarpaste first before putting them on the cupcake, think that will add an extra dimension. (just bought an embossing mat from ebay to have a play with!)You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

Hi Bellamonkey! I have different sets, I have some Tappits and I have like mini cookie cutters. Tappits are hard to get to used to, as you have to dust them first and then tap the letter out, which until you get the hang of it it can be very fiddly and very frustrating! I'm sure a few more regulars on this thread will be by soon with their opinions xYou're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
This blog post is a really great reference for the different tips, showing the 1M, 2D and a Lakeland set. Should help you decide which look to go for
Also, a slight word of warning - the 2D tip has now been discontinued by Wilton so get one before the price rockets!
Just popped over to see why some MSE folk were visiting my blog Kerrycooks today! Thanks for linking to me Kevie, I'm really glad you guys like my post about icing nozzles!
