I use this chocolate cake recipe

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4689/chocolate-cake

Its delicious. Everyone in my work thinks its the best chocolate cake ever and I was making a birthday cake for someone in work this week and he asked me for this cake.

My friend is also a chocaholic and cant get enough of this. Every time I make it I have to make her a little one just for her lol.

This is the cake I just made this week. First time Ive used the chocolate icing and it worked better than I thought it would.

Did you use the ready to roll chocolate icing or did you make it yourself?

    Cake looks fab!

Has anyone made this and does it does very strongly of beetroot?

I have heard that you can't really taste the beetroot and it just tastes of chocolate, is this true?

I don't really like beetroot but thought it would be a good way of eating it and in particular for the kids.

    thanks!

I bought ready to roll stuff. Dr Oetker which would never be my first choice but I had forgot to get it earlier in the week so it was all I could get from Asda the day I had to make the cake! :)

I made one last year for colleagues at work. I didn't tell them what was in it until they had eaten it - not one person guessed what the "special ingredient" was.

The cake was lovely, really moist.

Hi everyone, DD11 and I recently got into baking cakes. Haven't got as far as icing them yet, thats the next thing to get and practice with. Anyway was in the 99p shop today and they had the Mrs Bakers cardboard cupcake stands, blue with white polkadots. Really pleased with this as I was looking at them online before payday and was going to order at £5 plus postage. Picked up one for myself, will be good for DD's birthday.

Can anyone tell me where to get the icing bags and nozzle, plus paste colouring. Would like to get it this weekend otherwise I would have ordered online. Cant think of any cake decorating shops in South Bristol.

I'm in South Bristol - Theres Occasional Cakes (opposite tobacco factory on North Street) and I also use asda quite often, they now have a huuuuge range. But for specialist I use Occasional, or order online... depending on if im buying in bulk...

So, here is the cake I made for my Dad's 73rd birthday, it went down a storm!! It is a triple layered victoria sponge, with jam and buttercream, then covered in chocolate, surrounded by chocolate fingers and topped with Cadburys Roses.

  • Hi I wanted to share my creations, this is my first batch, just vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting, Jaysus that icing with bags and nozzles is harder than it looks!
I don't know if the bag and nozzle were rubbish, any reccomendations?

Then I decided to have a bash at Oreo cupcakes, that my 2 sons LOVED!

This is the inside of them, turned out pretty good! Although I think my cake mix was a bit to not runny.

Maybe your icing was a bit stiff for piping. It's very hard work if it is. Make it a bit like toothpaste, then it should be stiff enough to hold its ape, but smooth enough to pipe easily
