    Hi

I would anticipate that the timescales for such guidance will be beyond the financially viable scope of the FiT scheme and the pending smartmetering rollout will take precedent over any resource that would be allocated to any such guidance ... I'd say that you've simply been 'fobbed off' ....

Taking the guidance given on these boards into account regarding analogue meters, it's my perception that either the metering issue has been latched onto as an excuse to not install the panels for some other reason, or there was never any serious intent to have an installation in the first place. Waiting for the MCS to issue guidance simply isn't logical as the 'analogue metering issue' just isn't an issue - it's simply either non-existent or easily solvable by your supplier by fitting another ...

    Hi Z,

Don`t think you have read my posts correctly. It`s a problem for me as i have outlined today as i change suppliers regularly. The MCS are also aware that it`s a big problem as the MCS rep agreed. This is a problem for me and i would suspect local resident on my estate along with others nationwide. Please read my posts fully before assuming what i might or might not be thinking.

    Hi

No assumptions made, just applying logic ...

It's quite simple ... as MCS has nothing to do with planning other than scheme guidance and the pre-establishment of 'permitted development' rights then contacting them is of no real consequence .... if you have a soil-stack capping query call your local authority, a planning consultant, a builder, a roofing specialist or even screwfix/toolstation etc ... if you have a metering query call your electricity supplier - I'd certainly call their microgeneration team and have a chat ... another option would be to post the analogue meter make/model and see if someone on here with pv has the same unit ....

There are more solutions than problems ...

    Hi Z,

This is not a planning issue it`s an issue to do with the advice i have or have not been given by MCS approved installers/companies. so i have gone straight to the controlling body for clarification of the problems i`m experiencing with their approved installers supplied to me off the MCS site!

    Thanks

    SL

ps regardless of the problems i seem to be having i`m still hoping to have pv panels installed in some form once these matters are sorted.

I`m quite happy to have a back spinning meter for the whole life of the system, just need to have a final reading so i can move on to another supplier. However this is the problem for many in my position as the energy suppliers are dragging their feet when it comes to moving on and this was confirmed today by the MCS.

    Thanks

    Hi

This isn't really a problem with MCS registration, the FiT scheme or the suppliers, it's the option you've taken to change suppliers so regularly ...

If you decide to go-ahead with the installation your installer will register the system and you will be given an MCS certificate. You will then choose your FiT provider and register your system with them. Subsequently, when you change energy supplier you are not required to change your FiT provider, therefore in your case it needn't be an on-going issue.

When it comes to selecting an electricity supplier or scheme, if your usage is very low it would make sense to seek out a tiered tariff as this would likely provide the lowest cost solution with pv in the high generation months. If you do this and still expect to chase the best offering every three months it is very likely that the change dates will become out-of-step with the billing period, which could result in a proportionally higher tier1 charge than necessary or calculated by price comparison sites.

With regards the soil pipe i will not go against MCS guidance so if i decide to install a PV system it will be a 12 panel system away from the dormer and clear of the soil pipe.

You could get outside toilets and solve the problem.;)

    Hi Z,

This is not a FIT registration problem as i have researched and found that Green Energy will welcome you with open arms with regards to FIT meter readings if you choose to take your supply from them or not.

Energy supplier will be down purely to the MSE energy club alerts.and how quickly i can move supplier and without the presentation of a final bill/meter reading it`s going to be very difficult to change. Changing energy over 4/5 years has saved me enough dosh to near enough pay for the pv system so keeping the ability to switch is of prime importance to me and i don`t want my existing supplier slowing things up while we argue the toss about how much energy i have used for a problem that is caused by the supplier unwilling to change the meter.

    Hi Cardew,

To be honest that might not be a bad idea a convenient place where i can direct some of the salesman to take their heads to!

But seriously now it looks like i`ve done all the research for the system and self manage the project myself thanks to many of the posters on this site.

Tempted to go direct to the wholesalers for a suitable system and get a few MCS approved roofers and a MCS app sparky direct from the rated people site and pocket the difference myself.!
