Definitely the tumble dryer. Although I have both, I personally HATE damp washing hanging around, especially when it is bed linen or towels!! Love my dishwasher but would be quite prepared to wash up by hand if necessary.

I've never had a tumble drier, and with an almost 11 month old I still don't see the point in them.

Couldn't live without my dishwasher though.

I made OH go and buy a new dishwasher when the integrated one that came with the house kept tripping the electrics before i would even move in. I had had enough of washing dishes by hand as I grew up with one and hated washing dishes.

I dont really have room in my kitchen for a tumble dryer so i bought one of these http://www.lakeland.co.uk/21736/Dry-Soon-Heated-Tower-Dryer and love it. i throw an old duvet cover over the top and it drys everything without taking up loads of room. Im not due bubs till December but if this went and broke i would buy a new one in an instant whereas at the moment i can manage by hangin gthings on the line, but i dont want to do that in winter with a new baby.

We have this condenser tumble dryer it's particularly good as the tank which you have to empty is an easy pull out drawer at the top, other's are more awkward to empty. A dryer is essential for us as we don't have a drying area. A dishwasher would be lovely but personally that's a luxury to me.

I haven't read all the posts, but in case you didn't know (and if you can afford it) you can buy combined washer driers which are fabulous. That way you can have a dishwasher as well.

I've always had one. Last one cost me £350, so it's a washing machine and tumble drier in one - no venting required, it works on a condensing basis so recycles the water. Bendix are a very good make (owned by Zanussi, I understand?) - I've had the same one for 6 years, no problems, no hassle, does the job very well.

I have a washer-dryer and would be lost without it. I have been using it for about 10 years and it was second-hand. Today my washing is drying outside but when the bad weather comes it is very much needed. Dish washer to me is very much a luxury item.

    Definitely a tumble drier!

Don't know how people cope when the weather isn't good enough to peg the washing out.

I have 3 Kids and I would choose the Dishwasher. I have a small dishwasher and use it everyday, I also have a tumble drier, but only used it a handful of times last winter. I use the washing line and or airer and hang things over doors and radiators when desperate.
