Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all, what happened to the rain we were supposed to get It hasn't landed in my back garden yet.Could really do with it as its very hot and sticky ,still fingers crossed it will come sometime today.very uncomfortable night and woke up around three times just too hot to sleep ended up putting the fan on around five and gave up at 6 and got up.I'm just about to get my coffee fix and shower then I may feel a bit more human.I'm glad I got all the ironing done yesterday even though I felt like a wrung out dishcloth it means today I shall do very little but maybe watch a bit of tennis with a large jug of orange juice and lots of ice to rehydrate with.School run this morning then home for feet up and chillax as my DGS says .Hope everyone had a better night and if you got some rain then it must feel a bit fresher.Take care all

Good morning JackieO and all to cross or follow,
Bad, sticky night here with the resultant knock on effect on sleep. Good news is we've just had some rain. No cloud burst or storm, but a decent shower, so the air is fresher.
Off out for work this morning.
We will all eat together this evening - DH, DD1 & family, DD2 (here 'coz she's got a day off) and me. So that should be 8 of us sitting round together:) Will probably have tuna steak with hm salsa, hg salad & hg new potatoes.
Best get a-movin', hugs for those who need or want them x
Have a good day peeps. Hope you get some cooling rain if you need it.
Cheers, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning all
Another one here who was having trouble sleeping in the heat, I was in the shower by 5, we've had a sprinkling of rain, but nothing much.
Hubbys been dropped at the station with his packup, ham,egg & salad sarnies, breakfast eaten, fish fed, etc etc.
The kids at school have got a new hobby, taking the hubcaps off cars, mine was one of the first to get done, little barstewards.
We also had a staff member sent home to change, her skirt was so short you could see her knickers when she walked, she's 57 & worked there 10 years, you think she should know the rules by now. Skirts should be no more than 3ins above the knee, that's no good to me, I'm so short that 3ins above my knee is only just below my waist!!
Tea tonight is gammon, new pots & runner beans.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone - same muggy weather here though we had a HUGE thunderstorm yesterday at about 4pm and the most amazing rain I've ever seen. It was like a giant monsoon for 15 minutes.
Yesterday I was in Leeds and it was a lovely drive there and back in the sunshine.
Last night I made a big pot of carrot and coriander soup (yay) and a large amount of egg mayo (yay) so I can really keep to LC eating. Still only have bought vegs and dairy now for 4 weeks or so and feeling a little virtuous for it.
Am sitting with my breakfast and a large coffee here contemplating having a shower, wish it could happen magically and without any effort. :rotfl:
Happy Tuesday folks and, to those in pain or trouble I wish you better days too.0 -
2nd attempt!!! Morning all, the littlies are really trying it on today. Have told them they have to pick up the toys in their bedrooms before 8.30 or they'll be in the bin! One load of washing on the line and the bedlinen in the machine. Looks like another lovely day - slightly cooler than yesterday thankfully. We didn't get the storms promised - shame really as I'd been looking forward to them, so will be out watering the veggies today. The flowers and bushes can fend for themselves, but the veggies will hopefully feed us, so they need looking after. Tea tonight is pasta and sauce - from the freezer - well the sauce is.
Apart from the boys rooms and the watering I have the main rooms in the house to clear too. Hopefully tonight our builder friend is coming to lay the chipboard floor in the bathroom - he might be doing the tiles too if I'm lucky! Then the plumber can come back in and sort out the bathroom which means I finally get my bedroom back. YIPEEE I need to sort through my wardrobe and find out what fits.
Noticed I've put weight on - so am going to use up the remaining Slim fast that I have in the hopes that the weight shifts. Can make sure that I eat a huge salad with every meal and then surely its just a case of being sensible and portion control?! Right, better check on the boys to see how they're getting on. Have great days all x2014 will be all about ME!

Mring all!
Thanks Jackie for starting the day off
Where's the sun gone?! Finally after weeks of cold wind, rain, we got a big yellow ball in the sky !!!!:j:j:j
But alas a monsoon came and took it away, now the washing is still wet, as i din't get it in on time.
but hanks to the sun, i have 3 , yes 3 ripe raspberries and lots of tiny rose buds opening:D:D
Plan for today is getting everything sorted for tommorrow, make some bread, and stuff for tea. I was very naughty yesterday and bought it:o.
NPM the sheepwash we went to is in osmotherly and park the national trust / north yorks moor park. Its gorgeous, the site of rolling heather is just breathtaking.

Oops better run and take lads to school x0 -
Morning everyone,
It is drizzling here today but still really warm, it feels like I am in a rainforest! Mind you I still pegged the washing out!
Hester, we have that skirt problem here with teenage girls but I have never experienced it with a member of staff.:D.
Today is definitely going to be quieter than yesterday, I was out for hours last night taking and fetching children, mind you I did get to see them all enjoying their various sports which was lovely.
Tea tonight will be something with mince, not feeling particularly creative so it will probably be spag bol.
Silvermaid, glad you are spending lots of time with your family, hope that this helps you after your bereavement.
Love to all in pain or trouble.
Have a lovely day all.:)0 -
Morning All
Another sultry night here as well. I even went to bed a la buff and fan on full but still hard to sleep.
It is a little cooler this morning though so I have opened all the windows and have a nice breeze blowing through the house.
We have had no rain here yet either so I am glad I took little notice of the forecast and watered my veggies last night just in case.
Not much to do today apart from a quick swish and mop and try to get a Dr's appointment.
Lou x x
Well off for a shower
Have good days all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Morning Everyone
Yes, muggy and warm here too. Meant to rain later - I hope so.
Am in the office this morning, the sun doesn't come round this side till later so hoping to be very efficient this morning. Will chance some washing but there isn't too much to do :j won't mention the ironing mountain!:rotfl:
Not too much planned today, house is reasonable just the office work to do really. Looking forward to having a day at home - been rushing around like a mad un recently. Next few days will be busy too getting DD sorted for her prom on Thurs, can't wait till its over and I can relax for a couple of days.
Dinner tonight is fish n chips or subway, DS has tuition at school on Tuesdays and finishes quite late. He also hates it with a passion so his treat is eating out afterwards.
Really want to get things up straight so when days like yesterday happen we can hit the beach!
Anyway I am waffling now, have a great day keep cool/dry (delete where applicable) and (((hugs))) wherever needed.x0 -
Morning All,
Its a nice day hereShouldn't be any warmer than about 15, but that's positively tropical to us :rotfl: My boys have gone out for the day with the local play scheme to Ardrossan, and the weather report there looks good too, I hope they have a ball. I am a nervous wreck though, the women are all practically strangers to me, although they have been running it for over twenty years; I am sure the boys will be fine, but its worrying none the less.
Plan for the day it to gut the house and do some dump runs whilst I have peace and quiet. My BIL is going back into hospital for another biopsy today as they still don't know what's wrong with him, and he is getting no better at all. He is in a lot of pain, and has lost an incredible amount of weight, its a real worry. So, I am having my nephew for a few days so that my sister doesn't need to worry about him, her own SIL lives 5 mins from the hospital, and she is going to stay there whilst I have my nephew so that she doesn't need to spend money travelling back and forth. So I need to clear some space for him in the boys' rooms so that he can feel relaxed and at home.
I am also going to clear out the wardrobes and wash things that haven't been worn in a while, I bought fabric conditioner the other day which smells gorgeous, (I haven't bought any for about ten years) so I will clean everything and use that to freshen them up. Not MSE at all, but it might just give the clothes a longer lease of life if I clean all the dust out of them. I did think about just putting them on the line, but its not often I feel industrious so I am as well to take advantage
Hope you all have good days, stay safe.
