Welcome toots and uropachild, the more the merrier! (The dragon is away on her hols atm for a week)

Uropachild, why don't you book an appointment with your dr or nurse as type 2 can be herditary, I swopped the sweets and such like for, fruit and veg, in fact sweets are banned from this house, if they were here it is likely I would eat them, and I am too lazy to go to the nearest shop to buy any.

Oh dear...another week off work, out visiting friends, meals out...and I've gained 2.5lbs :(
Uropachild...I totally sympathise, I also ust can't stop grazing on sweets, biscuits and cakes right now. It's not like I don't have an incentive - I get married in 3 months and my next dress fitting is in early August. I'm having my dress made so in some ways that makes it harder as she will adapt it to my shape - I don't have one there to slim into but I do want to be slim, just have lost all willpower to get there. I'm also 5'4 but have now hit 150lbs again.
I'm back at work again from tomorrow so hope that'll kick me into being good as something needs to!

Ah, i see toots also followed Kaz's link here! :)

I am struggling with weight at the moment. I had a baby 9 months ago and i'm still breastfeeding him, which i think is (just) keeping things under control. However, i plan to stop by the time he turns one and i just know that i will then start to gain weight. I am 5' 4" and weigh about 145lbs, so i am just on the border between normal and overweight BMI.

My problem is that i have a serious addiction to sweets, biscuits, cake & chocolate. A lot of people make jokes about being addicted to this stuff, but i really think i am. I am ashamed to admit that i regularly tuck into big 250g bars of choc or eat 6 cupcakes in a sitting when i make them. I buy pick n mix and scoff the lot - sometimes £3 bags at a time. :(

I just don't understand why i can't just NOT. I stopped smoking years ago when i got to 30 fags a day and surely that has got to be harder right? I just love sweets so much, i can't imagine never having them again so i wouldn't want to stop them altogether, but then i have tried rationing myself and it just never works.

It also worries me because i have had gestational diabetes before and my dad has Type 2 since his 40's. What if my eating so much now is ruining my future health? I already see my dad being so terrible at managing his diabetes and the pain he is in, and it's like looking into my future.

It's so depressing. I used to have a gorgeous figure (that i totally hated at the time) before consecutive pregnancies wrecked my body. Now i KNOW that if i could just STOP shovelling !!!!!! into my mouth night after night i could have a nice slim figure again, but i just. can't. stop. myself. :(

    Why is it so hard???

Sorry to offload. I hope i can join you. :)

welcome uropachild & lots of (((((hugs))))) from me. Sorry to hear that you're feeling so bad atm. I know what you mean - I also have a tendency to eat compulsively - I have eaten 6 kitkat chunckies in a row, or opened a multibag of crisps and before I know it they're all gone. The only way I have been able to stop myself doing this is to stop buying the carp. I then only get a bag of crisps once a week or a chocolate bar. I still go through spurts but its not as frequent or as damaging now, also how about getting delish but healthy snacks in? total greek yogurt 0%, some strawberries & a crushed mergune (SP???) is devine & good for you x

    Hi all,

I lost a pound this week - that makes a stone now (again). sounds ok, until I think that it has taken me 6 months to lose it. Hope it doesn't take as long for the next stone.
I could use excuses, new baby & family bereavement, but top and bottom is I've stuffed my face too much and not got off my backs1de and done much exercise.

I can understand where you are coming from uropachild,

I went to buy a couple of cream cakes for inlaws yesterday and just because it was buy four for £3.60, I ended up buying extra 2 , which somehow fell into my mouth. I didn't quite finish the second one, so a little improvement there as I have seen the day they would both have vanished and not touched the sides. Anyway I am partially pleased with a pound loss. Well done to all who have had success this week!!

    phantom9999 welcome to the thread

ellay864, sounds like going back to work is a change for you and will kick start you again, do you walk to work? if so that will be good, if you go by bus, get off one stop earlier and walk, if by car can you park some where else and walk the last 1/2 mile or so?

The dragon I hope you are enjoying your hols, and not eating too much!
