Thanks kar999, I think I'm getting too sceptical of Energy Companies in general, after my run-in with EDF and removing the pdf tariff documents to my current tariff at the time ('to save confusion for new customers' over tariffs no longer available, but still in use by its customers)
Apologies to Cooperative Energy regarding my mistake, though I did look long and hard at that page before posting my initial scepticism. Well - given that info, I conclude the transfer went perfectly, simple tariffs, reasonable standing charge - and the cheapest by far for the Midlands region. No complaints.0 -
Changed to Co-Op, then got the usual "your leaving us phone this no (Scottish Power), I did and they freely admitted they couldnt match Co-Op. However, if feel that Co-Op is being very naive to think that people will not jump ship, especially as theirs no exit fee, I jumped ship to SE in the first place cause of the £114 bribe.0

I genuinely think the link might not have been there for while. I couldn’t find it either and was going to post it from my active account where it is visible. Maybe they were updating their site but it’s back there now.
I too have had the hard sell from Scottish Power. Two emails, a letter and then a phone call over the weekend. I’m afraid I almost lost it when they tried to tell me I would have to pay the £30 cancellation penalty if I moved. I put them straight about the 15 working day rule which I had religious tracked. The guy then did admit he was only from retentions and that he might be mistaken. Obviously it wasn’t on his hard sell script. If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -

Things I don't like:
I can't find the link on their website anymore to the current tariff prices, if someone can find the webpage address that has the link to this document, can you post it.
The document in question is the current price list by region,
[/QUOTE]
The link did not work for me either, so I e-mailed them for prices
Turns out, for me, they will be £29 per year dearer than my current suppler [Ebico], plus I will have to enter monthly meter readings, and there is a "Service charge" AKA Standing Charge of £63 per year
I will pass on this oneNumerus non sum0 -
I changed to Co op because of their of the clarity on pricing.
SP don't show the tariff price you are on their customers online site, neither can you adjust you direct debit yourself, and even after changing it over the phone, they would change it again despite being told not to.
I hope SP lose as many customers as possible for being the first to break ranks and increase their prices by such a large margin.Once energy companies realise they will lose a large number of customers to their competitors, they will not want to be first to increase their prices.
I was a loyal SP customer for over 15years.0 -
Regarding whether Cooperative did remove the tariff information or not (to which I apologised assuming that hadn't) which I'm now actually thinking they must have been removed - because I'm generally pretty thorough - it must have only have been for a day or two. I'm now sure that clicking that link just linked back to the 'our tariff page'.
I checked Bing's Cached Page and Google's Cache Page which are dated as cached from the 17th July, and this does have the link to the Cooperative Price list. But thanks to everyone for their support, in that they too thought the information had been removed. I guess we will never know.
For me, transparent - is when you click on the 'our tariff' page and its shows the tariff information table in full on that page - not bumph, i.e not requiring another link in cyan to a pdf, but the information is there now, so hey hoy.0 -

I'm sure the Coop aren't being naive. Equally they must know they'd lose huge chunks of customers if they put up prices way in excess of the competition.
They are going to save me £100 p.a. but only based on their current prices. I know they will probably put their prices up and if they are uncompetitive I will probably leave as there is no exit penalty but the £50 discount plus coop divi points are an added bonus.
It's just nice to be able to combine real savings with sticking my fingers up to the big six... particularly Scottish Power for putting my electricity up by 40% under the misleading marketing guff of a 10% increase.
So long as they remain reasonably competitive I hope to stay with the Coop for as long as possible. If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
Switched this eve from Scottish Power to the co-op.
The last straw was this afternoon when discussing alternate tariffs on the phone with a SP customer rep who gave me some seemingly slightly better figures for a fixed deal compared to my increased prices from August 1st. A little sceptical i said i'd let them know and then checked the tariffs on their website to find out i'd been quoted before vat for the new tariff and inc vat with the price increases to make the former seem more palatable.
Clicked close on the website and switched to co-op straight away. I will never do business with SP again even if they offer me free energy for a year.0 -
In fairness to Scottish Power, my elderly Mom didn't have any problem with the overall price (upto the price hikes) service, billing etc and I warned her they would call once I'd switched her over to Cooperative, that they would likely try the hard sell and not to be persuiaded to stay by SP, as non of their tariffs were cheaper for her.
She told me she was phoned by a very polite man, who asked her the reason she was leaving, and she just plainly told him that there was no other reason other than price, she thanked him for her previous Service from them, and he promptly left her to get on with her day. Quite nice really, did SP Proud for once.0 -
Finally decided to jump from SP OES11 to Co-Op last night.
May not be the cheapest, but I like the idea of mutuality and not being "marketed" to with gimmicks.
