Agreed...
When prices shot up last year, my Scottish Power leckie went up 40%, I had previously avoided the fixed tariffs as all they were doing were locking me into significantly higher prices. The Coop varaible Pioneer rate was the cheapest for me at that time, plus £50 single fuel guaranteed switching credit (rather than third party cashback).
This new Coop fixed rate is locking me into a nice 7% reduction. Even with the current economic volatility it's only for 13 months so it's not the end if it's the wrong call. Even if other companies do reduce prices, I'm already banking the savings now which will mean other companies reductions will have to exceed 7% as each and every day passes as the break-even point moves further out.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
There are so many duplicate threads for Co-op Energy now I'm not sure where to put this.
But just a warning. I'm on the Fixed Price tariff ending 31 July and a couple of days ago had an email offering from 1 August either a new Fixed Tariff (14-15% higher) or a new Variable tariff.
The Co-op's consumption estimate was about 20% below what I use and what they have supplied over the past year, so the estimated annual cost which they calculate is misleadingly attractive.
The kWh per year figures they give do not stack up with Ofgem average figures either.
So if you have an estimate from them by email (or your 'personal estimate' on their website where it is split elec/gas), check it against your actual consumption for the past year. I did mention the discrepancy to them.....
Incidentally, using my real annual consumption figures, the cost for the new Fixed Tariff came out more or less in line with the other fixed 2014 tariffs available at the moment. However, Co-op's ends in April 2014, the others last a bit longer, so there is yet another decision to be made.......0 -
I changed to the Co-op through Which? as they asked for people who were interested in getting cheaper elec/gas to contact them, which I did. Had to wait months for it all to be set up and then changing over from EDF to them took a while, but finally it all happened last July.
I thought they were undercharging me for the Direct Debit they set up and it turned out they were, so got that changed - I've sat back for a while, thinking all was ok. Last week I received a quarterly statement - which I don't normally get.
I checked my bank a/c to discover they'd taken the new d/d amount and then less the next month and nothing this month.
I contacted them to be advised my supply had been changed to a new supplier in Feb of this year! It's somehow gone back to EDF - who I'm still in dispute with?! I don't know how this has happened and have asked Co-op to supply me with all the information for this as I haven't done it. I've asked them why no email from them for last readings of meters or a "Sorry to see you go" like I've always had before?! Total mess up.
I'm now looking to change to a new supplier as I'm really fed up with this lot.0
