I also think I may have some blight, at the minute I'm just removing and destroying all the leaves that look affected, hopefully this will be enough, as I really don't want to loose my whole 20 plant crop! :(

Oh dear it's my first year growing and I also think I may have blight on my greenhouse tomatoes :( I will cut the affected foliage off and burn it, but if it keeps spreading will it affect the peppers and chillis I have in the g/h too?

I have changed my mind and am going to get bordeaux mixture for my potatoes first thing tomorrow. We are expecting a few rainy days next week and it has to go on before blight attacks

"Early attacks of blight may not be visible on tubers, but any infected tubers will rot in store."

If you cannot see it. Can you still eat them? Or should they all be thrown away even when blight is on the leaves?

this is very good and definitely worth reading

It looks as though blight appears 15-21 days after a smith period. Now that helps me a lot as I was trying to link smith with blight

With regards to application of Bordeaux, does anyone know how long to leave between spraying and harvest so that the crop (tomatoes in my case) will be safe to eat? There isn't any info on the bottle I have.

Hi. I am still worried about tomatoe blight. I have uploaded 2 new photos, the portrait ones. One from in the greenhouse and one from outside. Any further advice would be very welcome. Cheers

Very much doubt it is blight as after nearly two weeks your plants are still standing. I think people panic about blight. Only once in the last ten years have I lost potatoes to blight. Thirteen rows that looked like someone had taken a blowtorch to them. No green just black stalks. This happened very quickly, one day they were healthy plants, a few days later they were all dead. I did not have time to react. All plants have leaves that turn yellow / get black spots. This is not blight. Just remove and destroy them If the problem persists remove all growth/spray.
As a precautionary measure against blight plants can be sprayed with Dithane. once a fortnight.

I would never spray Tomatoes with bordeaux mixture. I prefer to have mine copper free. Try armillatox as an alternative.

Thanks. I have removed them already. One plant looks quite bare now. The fruit are fine. I hope it is just a root space issue.
