I have just had a full blight alert. I am in SW
I cut my second early haulm yesterday as this was inevitable. My neighbour has sprayed his king edwards with fungicide, I am hoping that ,y cara will be ok.
All toms were under cover last night and will be again, as soon as the temperature falls as it is now 31

We had a near miss period at the weekend, since when it has been hot & sultry and I would spray with fungicide except thunderestorms for tonight, so will have to wait until tomorrow nowNumerus non sum0

blight needs spores to land on wet leaves so you stop the leaves getting wet and/or stop the spores landing then you should avoid blight. I placed haxnicks green bags over all my outdoor tomatoes and yesterday I got rid of 2 that had `freckles` on the leaves. Next year I am only growing tomatoes under cover, it is such a pain going back and forth to cover the outdoor tomatoes
I have also made sure that all leaves below the first truss are removed as water splash is bad and today I removed more leaves to expose most of the fruit to air and sun.0 -
Help please. Just had a look and don't know much about blight. One of the major branches of one of my tomato plants has gone black/brown in colour in places. Mainly where the branch meets the stem. Is that likely to be blight?
Thanks0 -

Thanks. I will try later. It is on tomatoes in my greenhouse. May sacrafice the affected area as a precaution0 -
Yes I spotted freckles on some of my early potatoes. I was going to put a cover over them to try to hold off harvesting for a bit longer, but once it takes hold on the allotments, it is unavoidable. All my tomatoes are in the greenhouse so fingers crossed they won't get hit as quickly. My outdoor tomatoes are in the garden which is walled so tends to not get blight until later.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
