Driving ticket - incorrect paperwork

Hi,
Got caught ... er... misjudging breaking zones heading into a changing traffic light system and been collared for going through a red light by an unmarked traffic car behind me, anyways the ticket has the wrong road name on there, the road they put on ticket hasn't even got lights on it ... can I argue this in court? If so whats the best way to go about this, any advice for doing it on my own too would be greatful as would rather not pay for solicitor etc too if i can help it,
Many thanks

You can argue anything you like in court.

    You just might not win.

You wont get any joy at the magistrates court, they are guilty courts, you would have to be prepared to take the case to appeal at the crown court.

They will just amend the road at court under the slip rule.

Without legal help i doubt you will get anywhwere, It will most likely cost you more also.

Look into it much before thinking of going that route.

Odd how many people the Magistrates courts let off then, for various reasons including incorrect/missing paperwork...(I believe some police aren't too fond of them for that).

I'm not sure if the road name being wrong will make a difference on the form the op has received, although he could quite accurately and truthfully reply that he denies that he went through any traffic lights on the road mentions at the time in question (and point out the road in question doesn't have any such lights).

The guys at 5ive-o can probably give the op the police and magistrates point of view for the case including the general policies of forces about such mistakes, whilst the people at pepipoo might be able to assist from the point of view of purely challenging it etc (however the pepipoo advice whilst often good can be outdated).

Personally I'd probably ask on both, and bare both sets of advice in mind.

Does that translate as I was caught being a naughty boy?

What you could do is claim that you weren't in that street at that time as you were in ***** street, and cite the police officer who gave you the ticket as a witness.

I don't understand why people try and get out of tickets, you said that you went though it on a red light so are guilty...just pay up and learn to read the road ahead next time.
What is pi? Where did it come from?
