Charged £20 to renew Blue Disabled Parking Badge

South Ayrshire Council have been charging £20 for some time now

Personally I think £20 for three years worth of parking is a great deal especially when you get to park wherever you like. I spent more than that per week last year on parking charges at a hospital visiting my seriously ill father.
I appreciate you need to park closer to facilities and don't have the option to walk. I also don't have the option to walk to most places as I live in a village, but I suppose the difference is that I chose to live in a village. However, most people have reasons to use their car most of the time and whilst you will use yours possibly more you get a great deal on parking and if your disability is severe enough you will be receiving DLA to offset some of these costs.
There are things in my life such as school uniform which I have little option to pay but at the end of the day I don't moan about it ( well I do a bit
) as I do get recompense in the way of tax credits and child benefit. 0 -
renewed mine in May, was free no admin charges.
This is Bristol city coucil, absolutely useless and corrupt, so any charges that we perhaps should be paying someone one else is suffering.
Need some advice tho, i have some forgetful moments and forget to put badge in window, any suggestions.. i am one of those that will park in the bay... and accidently show the badge
and i know how some are... i can imagine someone parking behind me to stop me leaving and giving me lectures about parking in BB as i tend to fire back...
I can't help the forgetfulness it's part of my disability.
Can you not leave it on display permanently?0 -

I don't think you're allowed to but those whom forgetfulness is part of their condition or a side affect of their medication (very common) then there really should be some consideration for this being an option for them."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

You can but it is likely to get stolen.
Oh chirpchirp if only that was true. Park wherever you like? That's a laugh, there are plenty of places you CAN'T park and it's not free parking either!Personally I think £20 for three years worth of parking is a great deal especially when you get to park wherever you like. Disabled people with BB's still have to pay in many places including hospitals.0 -

It would get stolen, they are more valueable than gold atm
Another reason to put the pictures on the front then unfortunately, and to make them far harder to forge or alter (swapping pictures or changing dates etc). Which inevitably will cost them more but I don't think £20 a year is excessive tbh."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

Yup, as DH and I are both disabled we both have BB's We had someone approach up in the carpark last week and offer £300 for for one of them.
We did tell him where to go and the parking attendant wasn't far away so reported him, we were concered that if we hadn't then we would have come back to a smashed window.0 -
