Charged £20 to renew Blue Disabled Parking Badge

Dammit....That reminds me DH has to get his pics done for his new badge. Currently they are free for renewal here, before anyone complains (jd87)....We pay full council tax so no one's taxes pays for ours. (And there is NO free parking for blue badge in carparks round here, then again there are on average on 3 disabled spaces per 200 spaces!)0

Same where I live. No free parking any more. Now if they would just make the bays a little wider and police the use of them more...
Our local Aldi store has BB 5 bays. When I went to the store last week all five were occupied; three by cars not displaying badges, one by a car whose driver had left his disabled passenger in the car while he nipped into the store; the last one legitimately. I was very tempted to park my car behind the three illegally parked cars while I went to do my weeks shopping. That would have stopped them just 'nipping in for a few secs'. :cool:0 -
I wouldn't mind paying $20 (sorry, I've lost my sterling button) if it meant the money went towards more spaces or making sure the ones we have are used properly. My bug bear is our local market which I would love to use, but, the spaces are used by people 'just popping' into Wilkinsons or pretending they haven't seen the 6' orange sign on the road that says disabled bay.
Seem to fight a constant battle here to stop the council charging for the spaces we have, so the 20pounds seems pretty reasonable.
jd87 - yawn yawn - you seem to have 'forgotten' - most of 'us' are also paying taxes too! I know most of 'us' would happily give you the car keys on a plate in exchange for what we have lost. (But, you really wouldn't want it hon).0 -
My last Blue Badge cost £10 so when the renewal letter from Aberdeenshire Council quoted £17.50 I was very surprised. When I queried it I found out that the Scottish Government had devolved this function to local councils with a maximum charge of £20. So I suppose that £2.50 less is welcome. Neighbouring Aberdeen City charge the full £20 !!When dancing with dragons, don't let your partner lead.0

Management, distribution, security, price etc was to be centralised. On price however the feedback was on~the~fence so SP devolved the price setting to individual City / Council level.

Hardly surprising if you give a choice between nowt and twenty quid that they picked £20Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. i cannot understand some people...
if you had the energy to go looking at the 5 cars in the disabled spaces to check their badges are on display then chances are parking further away than those spaces is manageable for you too and you could leave them for those who realy need them .....0 -
its the differance you get from area to area. scotland benefits from lower or possibly by now free prescription charges where england doesnt. i dont have a problem paying an admin charge when mine comes up for renewal.0
