    What you paid in the beginning is irrelevant photo card renewal is just one of the ongoing expenses of driving, same as buying road tax, insurance, fuel, servicing....the list goes on. If you can't deal with that don't drive.....simples

    Thanks for that link - the only one anywhere near me I never go in coz the queues are far too long, so that explains why I'd never observed it

    same here, I don't use the one with the booth normally but it was well worth the wait. Like I said I got my license back before the week was out.

    Well the UK is one of the few countries in the world where a driving licence is (or was) (almost) for life. In most you have to renew it every few years.

    I have to renew mine every three years, but it is free. :D
