Have you/are you going to find out whether you're having a boy or girl?

Yes we asked. Not that we minded either way but as we already have a lot of girls clothes from DD we wanted to know whether to keep them or change them for boys things.

They won't always tell you in case they are wrong but put it this way he was a very proud little boy!!!!!

Are you going to find out??

Ooooooooooooo lots of babies due on the SP thread! :j sorry I love babies! if i didnt have to do the whole pregnancy thing for 9 months, id have a whole football team :D I would have another but 'himself' says ive got no chance, 2 is enough :o

Go managing debt goooooo, himself finds it really helpful to put his ciggie money in the pot, he's been a smoker since he was 12 and he's now in his 40's so very heavily addicted to the nicotine and he has said how its helped curb the cravings to pot the money. Worst moment was first time he went to the pub after quitting as he would have easily smoked 40 fags in a night out  meaning blowing his going out money on fags then raiding the cashpoint for beer money, but he proudly came home with a pocket full of change for my pot and to tell me he hadnt had to go to the cashpoint as he had enough money for a few beers  so sealed pot saving me money :rotfl::T

Anyway we are cutting down the money going into himselfs pot now as today he signed up to the gym, as since quitting the ciggies he has found a bit of a love for the biscuit tin and at a doctors appointment last week was given a rather stern talking to about his weight. He isn't happy being so big and used to love the gym so I said i'd rather save less and pay for his gym than save more and have him unhappy :)

Plus as we came out of the gym I found a lovely 1p roadkill on the pavement so good all round :T added a further 19p out of my purse so a small but loved 20p into the pot

This challenge has helped me to save more of my money. It has also made me aware of the money that I can find on the ground.

Thank you so much Kerry, a few words say a lot and I think that sums it all up for everyone of us, it's a way of life. ;)
Reading yesterdays posts struck a cord, particularly Jakes-Mum's posts about her husband putting cigarette money in the sealed pot. Being a social smoker, i'm going to try doing the same. When the urges kick in...£6 goes in the pot.

Excellent thinking Mal...and what a great way to save for your holiday. I quit 12 years ago and have saved a fortune!!! :j

Ahhh that is so lovely of you jakes-mum; your DH's health is paramount and he's striving so hard to quit the fags, but obviously there are other addictions that attract us. ;) The gym will be marvellous for him, you too in knowing he's benefitting so much. :D

I don't post on here as often as I should but felt that I wanted to comment on what BE09 said. Yes s/he may have a point that it doesn't earn interest sat in a pot but I like putting my pennies in there. If they stay in my purse then I am tempted to spend them. If I have no money in my purse then I am more likely to have a NSD than take money out of the bank as I hate splitting a note.

Plus DH has trained DD very well and she spots roadkill much better than we do (maybe it's because she's closer to the ground???) She can't wait to get home and put it in the pot.

    This has 3 advantages.
    1. We get money in our pot,
    2. DD gets a lesson in saving plus
    3. she is learning coins and money values at nursery this term so seeing and handling coins is helping her recognise the different ones.

That wouldn't happen if we were transferring money online so LONG LIVE THE SEALED POT CHALLENGE

Thanks so very much for all the above starnac. I'd not intended to quote anymore posts, but you made so many great points, that, yet again, give the benefits of this great Challenge. Great points made! ;) Your last line is brilliant!!! :j

£3.42 in the pot, change after DH went to town. Brilliant! :D

Enjoy another lovely day tomorrow folks.

    Just adding my voice to:
:j LONG LIVE THE SEALED POT!!! :j

If it stayed in my purse my money would be spent and I also like having a bit of money stashed at home for emergencies including when the cash machines down the bank aint working (which is more often than youd think and always seems to be on a Friday when they wont get fixed all weekend!) Not that I ever open my sealed pot unless urgent. Obviously. :D

I already save a small amount of money into an ISA every week but my sealed pot is for those little coins that I never use for anything else and that just make my purse way too heavy! What is wrong with getting a thrill from potting coppers?

Anyway I'm protesting too much now. Thank you Sue for your committment to this lifestyle :T. 38p potted xx

I have to agree with jake's mum. If I didn't have to go through the preganancy bit then I wouldn't have had such a big gap between these two (DD will be 4 when baby is born). Can't imagine myself having another after this one

but then again never say never ;)

Ahh bless you Observer. :kisses3: Thanks for all your great thoughts above, it's been wonderful to see how much this all means to you and to everyone. To be honest though, I just love doing this thread, and I know full well that sparky loves totting up all the totals on his spreadsheet in December. I'd hate not to be doing the thread now, but....what makes it such a resounding success and great place to be are ALL you terrific members! We all love our thread.....it's family! :D

You, jakes-mum and me too with the football team, starnac though health problems got in the way of our intended 4 kiddies. :( Never say never indeed for you, but enjoy all the excitement of this one, nothing quite matches it now does it. :D

Oh my word sparky, 12 hour shifts and another run of weekends?!!! Good job you do have her photo, you'd best prepare a collage of em to include left and rght profiles, just to make sure it's the right DW you sleep with each night!!! :rotfl: I've passed your regards on to T and he sends his to you and DW. He's, as always, been absolutely marvellous, the best I could ever have wished for...me him too!!! :p

Still having physio and hand still quite swollen, our DGKs call my fingers sausages while DH, DD & DS just laugh at em! I had the scan last week and now need to see an Orthaepedic surgeon! The hospital phoned today to fit me in to a cancellation slot, so I see him on Thursday! All go, but in the wrong areas....though maybe given the circumstances it's darn lucky it's all happening quickly now. Will let you know how I go, and, thanks a lot sparks.

    Sleep well everyone.
