Given all that was said by baldeagle09, I just had to bold out PAF's sentence above. Sadly BE09 has no idea about the fantastic camaraderie that's ever present on this thread and all the other threads over the last 4 years, a good point sparky.I am so very, very proud of all we've achieved on the SPC and thrilled to bits for ALL of you, it's absolutely marvellous to read about all the joy that spills over towards, and at the the end, of each year. We all know what this thread brings us, and that's all that counts. Thanks everyone for speaking your minds, especially you young Willow (and you thought your amount was pathetic! Just like your voice, it's vital!) and Decluttering! :T:T You've put it perfectly.
Good to see you peaceandfreedom, it's great to hear how well you're doing. All the best on meeting your target.
Lovely to see you back again Mal,and great news about the £10 lottery win!:T Don't leave it so long in future eh?!
Hello there sparky! I'm glad they've set you free for a while, at least. Good going on your savings! All the best to your DW, you too.
Hi jakes-mum, I loved your last and very relevant sentence, well said!
Good to see you too, nikki and well done.
A whole £2.64 in the pot after shopping. Not a lot, but more to come when DH has to go to town later in the week.
Enjoy another good day tomorrow folks.

£1.79 into my pot today. This challenge has helped me to save more of my money. It has also made me aware of the money that I can find on the ground.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130

Thanks SUE-UU, i'll make more of an effort to get on the board.
Reading yesterdays posts struck a cord, particularly Jakes-Mum's posts about her husband putting cigarette money in the sealed pot. Being a social smoker, i'm going to try doing the same. When the urges kick in...£6 goes in the pot.
I love this challenge as i have a running total on my phone which drives me to put the £1 and £2 coins in the pot as I see the total rising by healthy amounts. Plus the banter and support from eveyone is a massive part of the experience.
£5.89 went in yesterday having cleared out my work desk of pennies and raided my suit pockets before hitting the dry cleaners.
I'm saving for a ski holiday with friends in december which i think will be so more enjoyable knowing i paid for it with this great challenge. I'm £258.76 towards the december ski holiday :j

Morning all
£1 in the pot today. I would have had quite a lot more left over from the weekend, but I spent it on baby stuff yesterday. Ah well

I don't post on here as often as I should but felt that I wanted to comment on what BE09 said. Yes s/he may have a point that it doesn't earn interest sat in a pot but I like putting my pennies in there. If they stay in my purse then I am tempted to spend them. If I have no money in my purse then I am more likely to have a NSD than take money out of the bank as I hate splitting a note.
Plus DH has trained DD very well and she spots roadkill much better than we do (maybe it's because she's closer to the ground???) She can't wait to get home and put it in the pot.
This has 3 advantages.
1. We get money in our pot,
2. DD gets a lesson in saving plus
3. she is learning coins and money values at nursery this term so seeing and handling coins is helping her recognise the different ones.
That wouldn't happen if we were transferring money online so LONG LIVE THE SEALED POT CHALLENGEGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

It was all necessary stuff, like sleepsuits, vests, blankets, etc. I'm not due until December, but the earlier I stock up, the easier it will be to spread the cost, so that the sealed pot money will cover those bits that I can't really buy a lot of until Beanie makes an appearance. I did shop mostly in Primark, so got a big bag of stuff including 6 blankets, 13 newborn vests, 4 0-3 months vests, 2 hooded towels, 3 flannels, and some other stuff I can't recall for £46.50. Then I visited Mothercare, where I picked up 2 packs of 3 sleepsuits for...£21. I couldn't believe the price difference! If I got everything I need from Mothercare I'd be bankrupt! AND the packet was labelled wrongly on one of the sleepsuit packs, so I need more newborn ones now. Grrrr.HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69
