Hi PP - I know the YMCA have furniture shops, also the British Heart Foundation, and MIND. I'm sure there are quite a few charities or furniture projects around.

I agree that it's scandalous that councils charge to take stuff away. Here it's £35 per item daylight robbery:mad: On top of the small fortune we pay for council tax. So although I'm having to spend £114 on a skip I can at least fill it up and get my money's worth.

Although I don't condone fly tipping it doesn't take a genius to work out why people do it. Then of course the landowner or farmer has to fork out to clean it all up.

Sorry - one of my little hobby horses.:o

Feeling a bit worse for wear, tummy upset - only stress - so no exercise as such.:(

Getting a bit nervous about OH 's respite - hope the home is better this time. It looks wonderful - but - the proof of the pudding .........

Got some nice new books and magazines from the library so a quiet rest on the sofa and then an early night.

    G'night all x

    Good morning All

Can't sleep, have been awake since 5-00 am. Subconsciously worried about OH I think. Can't switch my brain off and relax.

    So....................

I thought I may as well get up and get cracking. It's a beautiful day here - at least at the moment so am going to do lots of washing, some paitning - yes still the picture frames - they need another go of undercoat - trying to do white on top of black was never going to be easy.

Later I have some urgent paperwork, some ironing, packing for OH but first going to cook the last lot of plums.

So all in all hopefully a productive day. Will probably run out of steam and need a nap later.:rotfl:

Hope you are all well and still enjoying your ride on the Frump to Fab express.

To any who may be struggling I would just like to refer you to Maman's post yesterday. Well done you:D:D:D

It's a great boost to us all on this thread - which gives us another two "P's"

(Not sure if we did these before - if so - apologies - however it will do no harm to repeat them - helps them to sink deep into our subconscious where they will keep training our brains).

Persistance - Pays off in the end. Don't lose sight of your goals. You will succeed.

Perseverance - Sometimes we get downhearted, obstacles loom in front of us and block our path and obscure our view. We all have days when we thinlk "what's the point" and it all seems too much.

Just keep going - and if you fall by the wayside for a day or three - then in the words of the old song

"Pick yourself up, dust yourself down, and start all over again"

Although you won't be back to square one, you'll just be picking up from where you left off.:)

Anyway my caffeine fix has done the trick and I'm off to start the day.

As Carmen would say "Onwards and upwards". I love that.:)

    Have a good one.

LL - I totally agree, it's one of my bug-bears as well! When I moved my old property was empty for about a year and I would constantly get people fly-tipping in the back yard. I complained to the council over and over and they did nothing - but on two occasions when someone complained about ME (well about the rubbish!) then they 'ordered' me to get it removed - at my own expense of course - or they would take me to court
Have called the number Skymist gave me and they are going to come on Tuesday afternoon - which is actually a very bad time lol but was the soonest they could manage! They also asked a lot of questions about the condition and whether it had all the safety/fire labels and said they can refuse to take it when they come and see if they don't like the quality or it doesn't have them *sighs* Maybe I should try round and see if anyone can come sooner? My brother is coming Tuesday afternoon so I ideally wanted it gone by then but appreciate have left it a bit late now :(
LL - hope you're having a nice day (is lovely here as well, wish I wasn't stuck at work!) try not to worry about OH - know it's easier said then done! - like you said this place looks really nice so hopefully he will like it there and you have a bit of a break.

Am debating whether to go out tonight or not with some people from choir. Have noticed OH seems very down this week (he has had issues in the past) and feel a bit bad leaving him. I know he would be the first to tell me to go but I don't know if I would enjoy the night if I was feeling guilty. I was hoping some of his friends might be coming round and then it wouldn't be a problem but it's not looking like it's going to happen. I get a little frustrated sometimes as we seem to go in swings and roundabouts - if he's really upbeat and positive then I'm usually really down and now I'm feeling quite motivated and positive then he's on a bit of a downer. We never seem to be happy at the same time :o
  • Congratulations maman! All those losing weight now are donating their spare pounds to me - I've gained 2 in the last 4 days! I've deliberately stopped myself stressing about getting large - seriously, as long as I can still walk and I'm not putting the baby in danger, why worry :)

LL I'm sorry you're feeling stressed. Why does it seem that the body, when stressed, deprives you of the one thing that really can make a difference (apart from the resolving of an issue, of course) - a good night's sleep?

PP There was no discoing last night, but I had/have some work stress, so I just had a funny tummy the whole night. And the strangest dreams. The night before last, I dreamed that my mum was possessed by the devil. How weird is that? I don't even believe in the devil!

Sorry you're both feeling a bit down podperson and LL. Hopefully the sun is still shining where you are and that'll give you both a lift. I can't believe the difference in two days.

Podperson, if I were you I'd go out with your friends tonight. Enjoy yourself. It'll give you a good start to the weekend and then you should be more upbeat when you're with OH tomorrow. Obviously you've got things to do to prepare for your visitors but what do you and OH like to do together?

I'm feeling powerless to help you with the OH situation LL. I have an idea how you must be feeling but, sadly, there's nothing that will take the situation away. You've chosen what sounds like the best place in the area for the coming respite. It should be fine and I think it's a good way of trying places out. I'm sure it helps to stay busy but not so busy that you knock yourself out! You must rest and try to enjoy some free time.

I'm sorry if all that comes across a bit 'agony aunt'. I don't mean to but I hate it when people are sad, just feel I want to try and help. Sometimes I've envied people who can be a bit 'selfish' or the ones who are always getting the support in life rather than doing the supporting. Then I tell myself I'd rather be thought of as strong and capable which I am (most of the time:)).

I'm all showered, coiffed and slathered. I'll do my make-up in a moment then I'm off out to do some food shopping and buy my bead!!!

    Morning Ladies and Lurkers!

:j:j:j:j:j:j:j WOO HOO WELL DONE MAMAN!!!!

what a FABULOUS acheivment! My Pom POms are getting a real workout!!!!

you are a real inspiration to those us still slogging away!!!!

sorry to hear that some of us are feeling so great- virtual hugs all round...

After yesterdays torrential rain which didn't let up until gone 10pm ( major flooding in parts of town) today started off very foggy- not great when I had to get in really early- it actually looks quite creepy and i know I'm a big wimp but as we are so isolated out in the sticks can't helped but be slightly creeped out when I'm the only one here:eek:

thankfully the sun has come out and it's turning into a lovely day:D

having foundation issues atm- my skin tone can change quite a lot over the year so am forever mixing and matching to get the right shade, but today decided to try mixing some of one of the darker shades I have with a little bit of turmeric cream- works a treat pretty good colour match I have to say:D

re the concealer- I haven't tried bobby brown before so if I get a chance and can find a counter near I may have a gander- a friend suggested trying the sleek range (superdrug I think) as they cater for a bigger range of skin tones so might give that a go too!

I think this weekend - (or sunday at least as am going up to Mum's on Sat) I might have a go at sorting through my wardrobe/floordrobe and if I have time sort through my make-up and chuck stuff I haven't used in ages/does suit, I used to be really good and had everything organised in nice boxes etc...need to sort it so I know what I have that way I won't always go for the same couple of things that I use all the time....

right am off for now - wishing everyone a lovely friday!

This is my lovely new bead! The design is all things that would normally be carved on a Welsh lovespoon. I'm delighted with it.:D

A few bargains some of you might be interested in: 'Savers' (cheapo toiletries etc) has Johnsons Holiday Skin at £1. I've been using it regularly so I bought one for stock. In the same shop they had Maybelline mascara (my prefered one with the pink/green packaging) for £2.50 ish. Also, I bought a bottle of castor oil in an Asian food shop for £1.69. I know some people were having problems tracking it down.

Bitsy, I have a large 250 ml glass of (sugar-free) squash at breakfast time in lieu of juice. Then I find if I have a sports bottle of water to hand when I'm using computer I'm more likely to drink it. I also have a bottle beside my bed which I drink when I wake up in the night. I know that's a stupid thing to do but I always feel thirsty when I wake up. Someone else I know disciplines themselves by going to the sink once an hour and drinking a glass while standing there. She says if she walks away and puts it down it gets ignored.

Hope everyone's having a good afternnon, weather still good here.
