Frugal Frump to Fab/Winter Solstice

Hi there everyone, I would love to join in aswell.
I'm trying to drop a dress size because with a few posh occasions coming up I went to get a dress and was absolutely horrified when the lovely, bargain of the century, size 10 dress I brought home will not do up at all. I have never been bigger than a ten so the weight is definitely coming off.
The dress isn't going back and I am going to be getting into it. So, I started thinking about why I have put so much weight on and it's definitely the wine's fault. No more wine for me after I looked into how many calories it contains, eeeek!!
I've got myself the zumba game for the wii which is totally fab and even managed to do 20 minutes yesterday.
I've just had a haircut and am feeling less frumpy and am determined to be a christmas cracker

 good morning all!
polesalot, while it's an eau de toilette rather than a pefume, I love Clarins Eau Dynamisante for everyday use. When you're next in a department store give it a good spray!
hamsterfan and tigerlilley, I have to admit that I needed to sort out my love affair with wine before I started losing weight. Except for special occasions, I have given up drinking during the week. While health benefits are obvious, I have to admit to being more motivated by cutting out the empty calories.:o It's not enough on its own, you need to eat healthily too but it helps. I had huge support from the thread on DFW board and I still use it to keep me on the straight and narrow. It's like a star chart for grown ups!!:D

Hi everyone, sorted out my stressful stuff as best as I could so I'm back. It's amazing how quickly stress can affect how I look and feel about myself, clearly something I need to deal with. Went to yoga last night - it definitely helps. I too have got an old Barbara Curry video somewhere, must find it and do some at home. There's a yoga portion on Wii Fit too, but I bought it two years ago and have never really got on with the Wii so I don't use it. May have a mess with it later and see if I can work it out.
I'm getting a hair cut next week - cant wait! I also coloured it the other day. I'm not ready yet to give up to going grey. Maybe another 5 years.
Still working on the wardrobe. I find summer dressing more difficult than winter, probably because I don't like my body, so I don't want any of it 'on show' and I struggle with the heat.
Huge second for the Clarins Eau Dynamisante :T- I dont wear it in the winter but a quick spray of it in the summer it's so lovely, light and refreshing.
I hope everyone is ok. Off to read the rest of the posts I've missed this past week.0 -
Aah eau Dynamisante....I used to wear this years ago then forgot about it. I'll definitely give it another go - it's not a headachey oneIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Can I join in please. I am now a size 20 and geting fed up with snide comments from people. I feel like everybody hates me. A lot of my weight gain is from steroids and anti depressants. I have been busy this week, buying new clothes and make up and am having my hair coloured and restyled at the college on monday.
I started a diet 2 days ago. I tend to follow the anti candida diet, as last time I followed this the weight fel loff.0 -
Hi everyone!
Merlin- what does your anti-candida diet entail?2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Cutting out yeasts and sugars basically. I keep getting fungal infections and boils, so hopefully it should clear them as well. The stuff from the GP didn't work.0

Is that just added sugars or is fruit out too?2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0

Good afternoon all. I managed to fit in a home facial, defuzzing, nail trim and cuticle tidy, and body buff yesterday, all rushed so that I would be presentable for when DH got home from work.
I'm still managing the makeup and perfume, and I've cut out white carbs as I found I was eating far too much and gaining too much weight. After three days of eating lower carb, I feel a lot better, and not hungry all the time.
Merlin, it's nice to have you here. And ignore people that make snide comments, it is invariably insecurity on their side that makes them like that. Sad, really.HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69

Hi Everyone, Hi and Welcome to Tigerlilley & Merlin & any other newbies I may have forgotten.
There's so many of us now - the men of Britain don't know how lucky they are. Come Christmas, they will see what a lot of crackers there are around.;)
Some interesting posts and points raised - as always. There's always lots of food for thought with you lot.:rotfl:
PD - I agree with your observations about white carbs. I'm just the same - I'm sure they are highly addictive - or at least for me they are. Not only do they make me feel dreadful, (IBS) but they leave me feeling hungry as well as bloated, and just craving more. I'm so much better off if I can just steer clear. You did really well fitting in all those beauty routines yesterday;).
I also agree with your advice to Merlin and second that.
Merlin sweetie just try to ignore all those nasty snide comments. What gives people the right to make hurtful remarks I'll never know - it's bullying as far as I'm concerned. All bullies are cowards at heart and I also think that people who make horrible hurtful remarks are often deeply insecure people themselves. Why else would you need to belittle someone else. People who are secure in their own skin don't need to stoop that low, they know how to be generous of spirit.
My tip (for what it's worth), when confronted with people like that. is to charm the pants off them. I go for the full charm offensive, being ultra sweet and finding something nice to say to them - a compliment or some words of praise. It usually knocks them off their feet, they are so stunned.
However, if they have really hurt me then I make no bones about telling them so. Again ever so sweetly I will say something like "I know you probably didn't intend to be mean but you know your comments have really upset me. Maybe I'm a bit too sensitive but what you said has really hurt me".
That usually knocks the wind out of their sails.
To be fair I sometimes think people don't always realise they are being so hurtful and insensitive and they are genuinely shocked to learn that their comments have caused pain.
Having said that some people are fully aware and couldn't give a sh*t, in which case - may they die a slow painful death and then burn in h*ll for eternity:rotfl: Not that I'm vengeful in any way:rotfl:.
