Treats and guilt - I separated those two things a long time ago
I used to tell people about my moneysaving ways - they'd look at me as if I was mad, then moan they couldn't afford anything. Sometimes, months after they've let me know I'm insane, they'll ask "what's that stuff you use for cleaning the cooker/does a carpet sweeper really work/how much room do I need to grow potatoes?". I tell them, then forget about it. I've reasoned that if they ignore me, I end up better off. If we were ALL moneysaving, the cheaper things would get more expensive then there would be no treats for us sensible lot
Aaaahhhh chocolate - I'm afraid dark is much too bitter for me, I really don't like it. Nor do I like flavoured choc. Or anything from a selection box. It has to be Cadbury's, in the form of dairy milk, buttons or chocos. No fruit and nuts, thank you. I managed perfectly well without any yesterday, til exactly 7.38pm. That's when mr tru came back from the shop with bread, milk and a 230g bar of dairy milk. Don't blame him, I asked him to buy it (though I didn't know he was going to buy a big bar). I was only going to eat 2 lines - 10 squares - but it was so lovely that I didn't stop. I should have though, the rest wasn't as lovely, just 'quite nice'. I fell asleep on the sofa for half an hour, went to bed and I was awake til 2.30am. I feel really tired and sluggish now, I know the chocolate is to blame for the broken sleep.
Today I'm going to go through my exercise DVDs. I have a Zumba set of four, two pilates and a yoga. I thought I'd do the beginner's section of each, that'll give me a nice workout. I also have a Barbara Currie yoga video (she's my favourite), but I don't have a player anymore. If I can't find a way of converting it to DVD, I'll have to buy a new one.
Right, I'm off for a shower, hairwash, moisturising, perfuming session. I'll spend the morning sorting out the animals and house then dedicate the afternoon to me.Bulletproof0 -
I like the Barbara C yoga too- haven't done it for ages though!
Did a face mask this morning and have been trying to keep up a decent face routine.
I need to start using my hint of sun tanning lotion for the wedding.2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Oooh Bratz, your bath sounds lovely. Apologies for deliberating about treats when you've no hot water.:o
tru, you are so right about other people's attitiudes. I've had friends talking about ridiculous amounts of money they spend at Waitrose and others who say they'll only buy meat there because it's carp from other stores and worth paying the extra. These are the same people who come to have supper with us and are reaching for the seconds of my carp Asda meat! :rotfl:
I've been quite good this morning in the fabness department. I finished of yesterday's pedicure when I only got around to painting my nails. Today I've filed my feet, slathered ( I do love that word:D) with cream and put little cotton socks on (Bless) because I'm not planning to go far today. Just a few tips about foot care: I used to have really dry, flaky, cracked skin on my feet. Long story but I ended up being referred to dermatology where I eventually had an oral antibiotic that worked like magic. However, on the way while they were trying other things the doctors suggested creaming your feet (ideally with something with salycilic acid or urea in) but E45 is good too. Then cover your feet with cling film (I found plastic veg bags easier), then socks then leave overnight. Not the most glamorous image but it does make your feet lovely and soft.
I've also done a facepack, moisturised all over with my tanning mix and put Olay daily sunshine on my face!
Anyone read the article this morning that says there is no evidence that drinking loads of water is needed in our temperate climate? Apparently the 'myth' is mostly put forward by a foundation owned by the Badoit/Evian/Volvic people. I'm sure a contrary view will come along soon.0 -
Hi
Have been lurking for the last few days and have just caught up with everyone.
I'm sorry to say that my beauty regime has not been going well as I have been busy doing other things. This is not good , and i really need to get back on track. I am still doing my weekly sessions of Zumba, and have been moisturising my feet but that is about all. (Oh, and wering perfume)
Could anyone tell me where I can buy muslim cloth and gram flour as i am having no success.
Any way good to hear from you all keep up the good work0 -
Morning Ladies!
seems I'm not the only to get frustrated with "comments" lol, I think it's that sometimes it just grates and yesterday was one of those days for me. I don't spend extravagently, I just budget carefully where I save in one area means I can spend a little more somewhere else. For example one of the people who most frequently will make these types of comments is someone who goes to the supermarket every day for food, they have a really busy life working young toddler and are often stressed out and struggling but won't even consider planning meals and budgeting food bills, all fine if that's what works for you, but when you have a pop at me for buying something "nice" or having more money..it would bug me less if you didn't spend everyday what I manage on for a week...anyway enough of that!
LL thanks for the words of support- you are right of course, we've come a long way and we all have bad days, think I freaked DH out a bit though, he said last night that he'd been worrying that I was sick/sicker again cause the last time I got like this was around the time I had the BP issues, said sorry for being a grump and I'm sure it's not that, checked the BP all is well and I'm taking all my meds etc..I actually think it's just tiredness/lot on my plate we've been very busy the last couple of months in fact our last free weekend was in APril and we won't have another until well into August:eek: so I'm probably just a bit run down etc.
Managed to do the pedicure and conditioning treatment last night, my toenails are a very pretty metallic purple now:D and hair is shiny and soft!
TOnight I think I will do the OCM and some defuzzing.
JTS You can get gram flour from the worldfood aisle in the supermarket also known as Besam or chickpea flour, if not see if you can find any indian grocery shops in your area they will have it. For muslin cloths I bought a pack from the supermarket- in the baby aisle and cut them to size HTH

Glad you're feeling better MrsW. Enjoying yourself can be so exhausting!

I checked out gram flour and prices vary hugely: 2kg is £2.29 in Tesco but £1.83 in Asda (plus Asda have a 2 for £3 offer on). That's all very well if you'll use lots to make bhajis etc. In Waitrose it's £1.86 for a 1kg bag.0 -
Hi everyone,
Could anyone tell me where I can buy castor oil. I have been to all local chemists inc Boots but they say that all chemists have stopped selling it but none of them could give a reason why, I would like to try the OCM.
Had my 6 weekly haircut today, asked for a bit of a restyle, I now have very very short hair, it looks really trendy, really pleased. Went with full makeup and nails done so ibthink he made more effort.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hi Everyone
Hope you are all well.
Had rather a mixed day myself - a bit shaky and tearful. Tried to visit a nursing home today for OH, managed to get through the door and promptly burst into tears as soon as the receptionist spoke to me:eek: Not a very good start.
Apparently whilst I was out OH asked my sister 4 times where I was - all in the space of less than an hour, so that doesn't bode well either.
Anyway managed to give myself a mini manicure and nail paint tonight and will do a bit of slathering in a minute.
Re the castor oil, I noticed on the OCM thread that a lot of people were struggling to get this. You might be able to get in online somewhere - you'll need to check the thread and see if anyone posted a link. I don't bother with it myself - I just use either grape seed oil or sweet almond oil and they seem to work just fine.
I think the reason why chemists have stopped stocking it is because castor oil was used as a traditional laxative. I think there were fears that some misguided people were using it as a tool for weight control. It's a shame because I used to find it very good for dry skin on my legs.
I agree that it's a good idea to make a bit of an effort with your appearance when you visit the hairdressers - it shows the hairdresser that you have high standards.
Any off to bed in a minute, but first.................0 -
Deep Cleansing & Facial Steaming
Every so often - depending on your skin type, whether you have a job where you skin gets dirty or whether you life in a polluted city etc it can be beneficial to give your face a deep cleanse.
The best way to do this is with a clay based face mask.
To make the mask really work and do it's best it can be very beneficial to steam your face first., especially if you suffer from congested skin, spots (papules and pustules) and blackheads (comedones).
For your interest a papule is a normal red spot, a pustule is a papules which has developed a secondary infection and has become sore, angry and filled with pus. A comedone is a pore which has become clogged with sebum (your skin's natural oils) - it turns black because of a chemical process known as oxidisation - exposure to the air makes it turn black.
The steam will open the pores and soften the sebum, allowing you to extract any comdedones if necessary and to allow the mask to really work to deep clean the skin.
Simply add boiling water to a basin, place a towel over your head to form a tent and lower your face over the bowl. Steam for a few minutes.
You can add rosemary leaves to the water. They make a pleasant smelling disinfectant.
Pat the skin dry and apply a clay mask whilst your skin is still warm.
I make my own masks from various clays according to which skin type. You can buy pre-mixed masks for most skin types very cheaply.0 -
Sorry to hear you've had a bad day LL. Hopefully you'll feel a bit better after a night's sleep.
I checked on the OCM thread and many people there said that Tesco should have castor oil or to ask for it at a pharmacy as it may be kept behind the counter. Others said that pharmacies should be able to get it in specially from suppliers if you ask. I'm determined to give it a try but at the moment I've only really got Frylight so I don't suppose that would work:rotfl:Only joking, have got chilli oil (ouch!) and olive oil and Bio oil but I think I'll try something else.
I've been feeling a bit miserable today although I've nothing to be miserable about. It's often the case after I've been very busy (as I was yesterday). I look forward to a rest and then I get a bit bored and down and can't motivate myself to do anything very constructive. I'm going to blame the weather. I'm desperate for some sun and heat! I don't know whether it's losing weight (:D) but I seem to feel cold very easily lately.0
