Just thought I'd recommend this ebay listing for cheap castor oil in small quantities.
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/100ml-Pure-CASTOR-OIL-Base-Carrier-Massage-Cold-Pressed-/190528211539?pt=UK_Health_Massage_RL&hash=item2c5c5dca53

I bought 100ml for £2.79 and at the dilution I'm using (about 20%) it looks like it'll last at least 150, maybe 200 washes! Definitely cheaper per ml if you can get it from a chemist (I couldn't) but you might end up with it hanging round for years! There's a 50ml one for £2 too. I've found it good for clearing blackheads, rough skin & redness but it's brought up a few whiteheads I think.

You guys just reminded me about perfume parlour... I feel an afternoons browsing coming on :p

as for making me smile.... cute kittens :o
Several of my friends seem to be getting kittens and posting pictures on facebook at the moment so I have plenty to look at!

    Hi Everyone

Feeling much better today, thanks for all your virtual hugs. Sometimes it's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but I guess I just have to keep going, after all OH's illness is not going to go away.

Anyway good news - after a bit of a plateau - WW WI today and I've lost 2lbs. Celebrated by treating myself to a piece of Danish glassware - 50p. and some pretty carved wooden candlesticks £1 - will shabby chic them. Might sell them on or might keep.

Trouble with trying to restock for when I eventually get my bric-a-brac stall going - I love everything so much I want to keep it all.:rotfl: Maybe I would be better collecting things I don't like.

    Maman 3 Stones, wow :T:T:T

Cheer me up stuff? Music. If I feel really low and "backachey" then a cuddle blanket on the sofa with a nice DVD. If I'm up to it then a potter round the garden.

Although I do still occasionally treat myself to the odd bunch of flowers I tend to try & find some flowers or pretty twigs or something in the garden to save money. Some of the the "arrangements" can be, shall we say, a little unusual.

Mrs W :T:T:T on the bonus. It's nice when that happens, obviously the money is great but it's also nice to know your work is valued and appreciated.

BTW - Welcome to all newbies, good to "meet" you.

Anyway, better get cracking - still got a load of paperwork to wade through.

    Bye for now x

    Hello All!

Just a quick one, popping in to wish everyone a good week- am off to start getting things ready for our festival weekend- we are all meeting up at 9am to travel up convoy style so need everything done tonight!

I will be away all weekend and poss won't get on again until mid-week - so don't worry I'm not hiding probably just recovering :D

re things to cheer me up- well music is a biggie but I have different tunes for different times- the album by The XX is a fantastic one for chilled out relaxing- we took it on holiday to Stoupa a couple of years ago and just hearing it makes me feel like I'm back there again- yesterday was really about a nostalgia trip for me growing my parents had lots of parties and with a lot of Trinidadian friends and family, the soca/chutney/sega often came on and we'd all be dancing - lots of happy memories the only thing missing was a bit of roti and rum lol! well that and any dance partners:p

Watched Despicable Me the other night really funny and now is on my list of films to cheer me up- laughed all the way through...

no treatments as such tonight will be packing and sorting things out for the weekend...getting excited now!

    Have a fab weekend everyone!

Mrs W hope you enjoy your festival - one of these days ........they do allow oldies to go now don't they;). I'd have to go "Glamping" though - my days of roughing it are over. I quite fancy the idea of a yurt. Anyway, hope the weather is good for you.

Well today was a good one. As well as the weight loss, I managed to work my way through quite a backlog of paperwork.

Next week I'm going to reassess my bank accounts etc and make some changes (no I'm not loaded:D) I'm just trying to simplify and streamline everything and also try and make what bit of money I do have work a bit harder.

I also need to sit down and do some serious thinking and financial planning for when OH goes into residential care. As far as I can tell Social Services will contribute a certain amount and then if you want something better you have to pay a top up. The problem is the amount that Social Services allocate and are prepared to pay doesn't seem to buy what I would want for OH.

I suppose it's like anything else in this world - you get what you pay for and it would appear that nursing homes are no exception.

The one I visited yesterday was recommended to me by a friend who is a healthcare professional (her mum goes for respite) and it certainly seemed to tick all the boxes but obviously such quality comes at a price. I would have to go back to work full-time to pay for it, which I am more than happy to do because I loved my job. Problem is at 60 would anyone want to employ me full-time.

My job wasn't especially physical or tiring as such so I feel perfectly capable. It can be stressful on occasion and there can be a fair bit of travelling but TBH after 5 years of looking after OH nothing will ever seem stressful again. By comparison my old career was a walk in the park.

It's just that whether anyone is prepared to admit it or not - ageism is still rife in the workplace. Which is why my master plan was to start up a couple of little businesses - beauty therapy from home and antique fairs. All very nice but they would never generate the income I would need to pay for a really good nursing home. They would only ever be little "lifestyle" businesses.

As you can tell there is a lot of thinking to be done.

But not tonight - it's time for bed.

G'night all - keep up the good work. X

    morning all.

LL, although I'm still a young pup I completely agree about ageism in the workplace. I haven't personally experienced it but I have known people who have and I think it's a disgrace. Often older workers are in fact better as they have all that experience and wisdom, whereas younger people don't.

So I put my jojoba oil on this morning and am feeling soft soft soft. Will steam my face and apply a mask tonight I think, I'm feeling exhausted and in need of some pampering. I don't know what's wrong with me recently but no matter how much sleep I get I'm still feeling and looking exhausted which isn't good.

Friday already, DD came round with her scan photo yesterday - she is a week less than she thought so due 2 days after my dad's birthday keeping a family tradition going strong, I was born 2 days after grampy's birthday, my sister 8 days before my gran's, oldest son 4 days before Mum's (RIP) and youngest son a day after MIL . We discussed names for a boy thinks they are leaning towards Bleddyn, girl is going to be Arwen (chosen before they remembered it was in LOTR)

All attempts at healthy living going out of the window this weekend - Beer & Cider festival, so liver is going to take a pounding and as I have really reduced how much I drink expect to get drunk really quickly- used to drink anyone under that table, now 2 glasses of wine & I'm tipsy. OH has packed goody bag of stomach liners - crisps, bombay mix etc.

Oh well suppose the walk there & back will mitigate slightly.

Anyone else see Torchwood last night? looks like it's been ruined in it's attempts to woo the americans, not sure if comparing Wales to New Jersey was an insult or not.

hamsterfan1 - I am tipsy after one glass of wine - I'm such a cheap date!

Got in from pole class last night and was feeling quite battered and bruised (still am actually) so and had a lovely bath with Aldi Ginger Bubble Bath and HM body scrub (e/v olive oil, sugar and tiny bit of salt. Skin feels lovely now. Tidied up my face.

Wearing perfume today but not the ones I got from perfume parlour. I ordered equivalents of Lolita Lempicka, Jimmy Choo and Narciso Rodriguez but I got 2 Jimmy Choos and a L Lempicka and not my favourite Narciso Rodriguez :( so i need to find out what happened to the other one. The first two are a bit sweet for me so will need to be in the right mood for them.

Can anyone recommend a really nice fresh citrussy perfume that i could try?

Hope everyone has a nice day
