    Coooeeee, tis only me.

Really horrible day today, one of those where I fancied something but not sure what it was, soooo I grazed on rubbish most of the day :( and now I feel bloated and sluggish, blah!
I had a good week until today so I hope my weigh in tomorrow will reflect that!
Never mind, I have got it out of my system so back on the wagon to fabdom tomorrow :D

I hope everyone else had a better day?

The weather has been lovely again today but as I write this the wind is whooshing up the valley, it is getting very dark with rain clouds so hopefully it will rain soon :j

I am going to have an early night with a good book I am reading, take my mind off eating!

    Goodnight ladies

    Hi Everyone

Sorry to hear you are struggling today Twinnie - enjoy your book and hopefully an early night will set you back on track tomorrow.

OH's carer was ill today so sent her home and OH and I spent a lazy day, me just pottering and doing a bit of paperwork. DS2 recorded something called Game of Thrones - a bit Lord of the Ringsish - so I just lolled around watching a couple of those with OH. Some heavy rain here not fit for OH to go out really.

I'm afraid I am really struggling to get back into the exercise grove, none again today, going to have to get a grip. Doing ok with the healthy eating though, avoiding wheat etc and snacking on fruit.

Anyway I said I'd post up some skincare info - not sure where to start really - we're all so different and a regime which suits one person may not suit another, same with products.

So, having thought about it a bit, I thought I'd just do a bit of a general chat based on my own observations, post a few recipes and treatments and take it from there.

If anyone has any specific concerns I will do my best to answer any questions.

I will separate skincare posts separately from general chat, so hopefully that will make them easier to find ........Hope that's ok.

I think skincare routines should be simple, gentle and easy. I also think that it is possible to do too much to your skin, especially to use too many products.

When it comes to skin care less is definitely more

The more products you use, the more you overload your skin, which can result in breakouts or irritation. Similarly over vigourous cleansing etc strips the oils. This can either make skin very dry or, in the case of oily skin, only serve to make the skin produce even more oil or sebum as it is technically called. (This is exactly what can happen with hair too). In some cases the body goes into overdrive to produce oils to replace those that have been stripped away.

I once knew of a poor boy who took the advice that he should keep his skin clean to help clear his acne. He was so desperate he took a brillo pad to it.

I mentioned the other day that going too low on a low fat diet depleted your skin of essential oils. The skin produces oils as protection and lubrication, without it skin would be prone to cracking and open to infection. Oil also acts as a natural barrier to lock in moisture, without sufficient moisture the skin would become dehydrated.

Would that matter, well yes because our skin is the single largest organ of our body, it's principal role is to protect all the other delicate organs and tissues underneath.

Theres a daft old song - can't remember it very well - but there's a couple of lines which go "You gotta have skin, it keeps the insides in".
    Silly but actually quite apt.

So oils and moisture are two vital components to skin care. Our bodies are made up of 70% water and dehydration can be very serious.

Golden rule no 1 - no harsh cleansers - gentle should be your mantra. If you skin feels tight after cleansing you need to switch to something else.

Golden rule no 2 - make sure you are getting enough oil. A healthy diet with some oily fish such as salmon, some olive oils to your cooking. I would also suggest a supplement such as Evening Primrose Oil or Starflower oil, You will need to take it for about 3 months before it really kicks in.

Skin also needs selenium - a trace mineral. A couple of brazil nuts each day is sufficient to keep selenium levels up.

A big thank you to Mrs W for her explanation and links for the oil cleansing method, so glad you did that, I'm hopeless at doing links.

I can thoroughly recommend the OCM - it's simple and seems to be very effective at rebalancing the skin's natural oil production.

Also whilst speaking in general terms, it is very noticeable that as we get older the skin becomes thinner and more fragile, liable to bruise easily. Let gentle be your watch word.

If you must squeeze spots and blackheads - don't just use your bare nails, cushion them with tissues first and use a gentle rolling motion - rocking the offending spot between your two forefingers to loosen the offending plug of matter. Don't just dig in and squeeze for all you are worth.

    To be continued ...........

Hi all :hello: I haven't caught up with all the posts yet, will do that in a mo.

My house and me look like a bomb site :o There's a plasterer in the hall at the moment, sorting out our walls and ceilings. He's going to plaster the bathroom ceiling too, so I've emptied the room.

So I haven't even managed a shower this morning (quick rinse at the sink - I feel really dirty). My dusty hair is clipped back, my fringe doesn't reach so it's just hanging there like a pair of curtains. No perfume either.

On the plus side, my toenails are still sparkly dark pink :D

I'll do my best tomorrow, but I don't think normal service will resume until monday rolleyessmileyst6.gif

carmen- This is my downfall - I can be good for days and then I get a bit down or bored and I can't stop eating and its always chocolate!

tru- can appreciate the problems you are having. We're waiting for part of ceiling in one room to be repaired after a leak and thats bad enough. It'l be worth it in the end though I'm sure.

Tried to chew food more aka concentrate in what I'm eating and actually do seem to feel less inclined to snack. Haven't denied myself anything though -I'll see how it goes.
Done some excercise including weekly zumba class-5 days this week.
Did a face massage with rose oil yesterday and a salt with oil scrub in bath this morning.

    On my to do list
oil cleanse at least once this week - have had oils a while but never seem to have the time to to this.
    manicure
Think thats enough to be going on with or I'l get bogged down.
keep up the good work every1 :)

Mine are painted bright yellow again :D Which general opinion seems fairly mixed. Again. But I LOVE it so it's staying put :D
