The answer !!!!!! is how you feel about yourself. To me Fabness describes the things you do and the way you think about things that make you feel better about yourself ! Treating yourself with time and energy, making time to have a basic skincare, nurturing yourself with good food, lovingly prepared, a warm bath, planning outfits. I have worked on my home surroundings and have made it more comforting. All little things taken on their own but when added together they have a cumulative effect and gradually you start to feel better about yourself. Very slow but steady progress, one thing at a time xxx

Yes babysteps to start with and then it will all become habit. I couldn't imagine leaving the house without perfume now!

3 hrs walking today meaning lots of kcals burnt off today. Then craved some choccy and opened a large box of Thorntons classics. Bit disappointing really and had 5 for under 300kcals - not too bad really.

Time to take off nail varnish tonight and buff and tidy up with nail oil and hand cream. Have a last bit of exfoliator to use up this week alongside facemask - maybe Tues or Wed. I have had this exfoliator for along time so a big thanks for reminding me to have a regular facemask. Trying to go for 2 a week now to go up from my regular 1 a week on Sundays.

I'm on my last face mask tube which will last quite a while and is expensive. Not sure what I'm going to replace it with. Could do with a better value one to replace it one that is much better price wise and also gentle and effective - any ideas anyone?

Thanks Floss - I thought that too, then found a pair of dark blue floral ones too. Will see which I think look the best on the night

And a big thanks to all your comments about my outfit. I think its pretty boring but when you read it it doesn't seem to come across in that way! I'm looking forward to wearing the dress as its knee length, not low cut but pretty clingy to curves. Fitted really well a couple of weeks ago fo hoping it does again in 3 weeks time too! Then thats the 3rd time I've worn it. Think it cost less than £25 so current price per wear on this price will be £8.33 by then. Booties are down to £5 per wear so all costs coming in nice and low and worth it! Good way to think about this too

Know just how you feel as all I have eaten today is what I would term (ahem.....) comfort food:eek::eek::eek: Still as LL said a few posts ago - sometimes it is what your body needs x

I had this debate and decided to stick with my expensive products (Elemis) as they last me an absolute age (such good quality) and I mainly get them for birthdays and christmas. Im the same with shampoo and conditioner too x

Im just counting time until it is bedtime!. It has been such a rubbish and nothing kind of day. My lovely son even got all the Christmas decorations down but I couldn't summon up the energy. Anyway tomorrow is another day and I always derive great comfort in the fact that you can start afresh every morning xx

    Hello ladies.

Went shopping this afternoon. In a quandary re clothes. Want to look more stylish but it all seems to involve thin fabrics etc I want to look good but not be turning blue with cold. I want some nice winter knitwear but it's all chunky knits or cowl necklines, both of which are not very flattering for an apple shape <rollseyes> just feel a bit lost clothing wise.

!!!!!! last time i felt well and truly fabulous.....my wedding day 7 years ago :o:o probably the one and only time :o:o I know I can't expect to feel fabulous all the time, that's not realistic but c'mon I need to feel it more than once in 36 years :eek:

  • Hi All. Sorry not to be in touch...I've been lurking. I have had a thought, is WW and Slimming World all they are cracked up to be? I personally hate group meetings and being weighed but I have to do something. So I am now checking my calorie counter. A banana has 120 cals but it is free WW food. Today, I have kept to a reasonable calorie intake and hopefully it will show on the scales tomorrow!
I have had a few more ideas for you all:

    Depression
when I was young I used to suffer from depression and low moods but I discovered that we each have an "inner dialogue" and if we let a lot of stupid and negative thoughts swish around our minds we become depressed. Now I think no nonsense and I never feel low. If you are struggling with depression, get out, do something and change the subject in your head. It worked for me.

    Fair Weather Friends
I have had loads of these but I am quite strict, I have a 1 offence and they are out policy. So I have worked my way through a fair amount of people (.: On the plus side I never have anyone negative in my life and or anyone who has a low opinion of me. To make new friends I join things. I think Toastmasters is great fun, it is a public speaking group and you will really have a fun evening. I haven't done this yet but there is apparently a good social life at a lot of churches and there is also the WI.

If your parents have a shop or business premises, you could try looking at Hardship Relief on their rates. I got about £12k for my dad that way.

Guilt is anger turned inwards according to psychologists. As you know my mother did not want to go into a nursing home. She cried and screamed and was inconsolable. But she spent a few months in hospital and got to make some friends...she then realised she could make friends in a nursing home. While she is happy to see me and my dad at the weekend, she loves the nursing home, she goes to church, they take her shopping, she has coffee out, she can ring for food, drink or help in the middle of the night and she loves the activities. You have to give things a few months. It has been hard work for me but when I think of how much things have improved for me and my family since getting my mum into a nursing home and getting my dad sorted I am awed. We really weren't coping before and all of us siblings were nearly killing each other with the stress of it all. Give it a few months and take heart.

Now tomorrow if I can get up early enough I am going to the hairdressers!

  • Good Evening Ladies

First of all do forgive me for not addressing you all personally but I am desperately tired tonight - another emotional stress-filled day I'm afraid.

However, I have read all your posts very carefully and would like to thank you for all your advice and tips on how I can best cope with things and move forward. There is some very good advice on here (we are quite a bunch of wise old birds when you think of it) and of course lots of comfort and good vibes coming my way.

So a very heartfelt thank you to you all.

Last evening I sort of just mooched around - I don't know what I did - it all past by in a bit of a blur. I did manage to finish off a few pieces of jewellery and price and pack it all up. I will take that it on Wednesday with a view to catching a bit of Christmas trade and add a few pennies to the coffers. (Holiday Fund):D

Today I blitzed the sitting room and made a start on the dining room, also did some phone chasing re follow up appointments for OH's treatments.

Finally some success - the letters of instruction have now finally come to light so he is at least in the system ;) Most of the treatments probably won't take place till the New Year.

Have also spent some time working out caring plans for OH so that hopefully he can come home around the weekend of 10th December and join in the pre-Christmas preparations. Then remain at home until around 5th January and then make the final move into care.

Basically it will involve me never being on my own for more than a couple of hours or so - that way I won't have to worry about attempting transfers on my own.

It will mean vast armies of carers coming in at all hours but that will be a small price to pay to have him home. My lovely boys and wonderful sister have pledged to fill in any gaps - I am so fortunate to have all this help. A couple of neighbours and close friends have also said they would be happy to help if I need a second pair of hands.

So far I've only asked neighbours on two occasions over the past three years. Both times are when OH had a fall and I couldn't lift him - so I don't think I would feel that I am imposing if I do need do to ask.

Obviously that level of outside input would be impossible to maintain over the longer term but I think for 3 weeks it should be do-able. I might even ask if I can have a bit of extra equipment on loan or even hire it. I am thinking in particular of a couple of hoists that I have seen the carers use in the nursing home.

He will love being home for the pre-Christmas build up. That's the bit he really loves, decorating the house, putting up the tree etc. Obviously his will be a supervisory role.:D

Not much fabbing done (apart from my sitting room) - just the usual hair styling etc. My hair is very badly behaved at the moment and I'm having to wash it every day to do anything with it. Have just done a bit of a nail tidy. Have eaten healthily (on balance:o) - the chunky kit-kat was medicinal.:rotfl: Some serious back twinges today so didn't dare risk any exercise. Have booked some physio for Wednesday.

OH has a hospital appt with the rehab team tomorrow - fortunately his PA will come with us and do all the transfers and handling - I might even get her to drive so I don't put myself at further risk.

I think that for the next few weeks I will just have to really pace myself and take a more supervisory role - just leave all the heavy stuff to others.

Anyway off to make DS2's packed lunch etc

    G'night all x
