Can't imagine Waitrose being too pleased about this one either due to their links to Ocado

I think instead of everybody going mad with ocado and crowdity, perhaps you should be looking at the fact that this offer was widely abused as soon as the code appeared on internet forums. Instead of the offer being just for the limited number who registered, it was used by hundreds (thousands?) of people they had not anticipated or financially planned for. Personally Im not suprised the companies involved have withdrawn the offer. It would have potentially cost them a fortune.

    Limited number who registered?

    It was 30,589.:rotfl:

They were told by Ocado they needed 2000 customers.

For once I am in luck (no joy on olympic tickets - did anyone see me on Martins Slot on Daybreak today? highlight of my YEAR!) :)
I placed my order yesterday for delivery when we get back off jollies. I have to admit that if I hadnt been lucky and had 5 mins yesterday i would be fuming mad now......

And I like to add that I did register and use the code that was sent to me.......
I have a new claim to fame :D I spoke about the Olympics ticket fiasco on Martin's daybreak slot :money:

I wonder if the cost of deliveries increased so much yesterday was Ocado's way of trying to deter people taking part in this offer? It certainly made me think twice.

But the code couldn't have gone viral if they'd simply used a unique code system - which is the only way to stop it going viral. Now, any company that can't work out that an amazing offer, with a single non-personal code, won't go viral is not very clued-up.

So it is quite correct to moan at the two companies - it IS their fault for initiating such a flawed offer. It's also right to moan at those who took advantage - but the companies concerned should have realised this was likely to happen.

One is a 'specialist' in this type of offer (Crowdity) and so should know the way this works better than most - the other is a major grocery delivery firm with a hitherto (and now ruined) good reputation (Ocado) who shouldn't be risking their reputation like this.

To not expect this result, given the way they launched it early with a single code, beggars belief. So it is their fault... no doubt about that at all.

I'm annoyed with the abuse too - but that couldn't have happened if the 2 outfits had done it right...

My order is not due to be delivered until next Wednesday but I put in my order in yesterday wonder if I will get mine? Disgusting the way they have done this. I have had an e mail from them but it doesnt say my order has been cancelled or anything so I will keep my fingers crossed.

which is why they should have supplied unique codes.

a generic code is going to get abused; that is obvious.

therefore, the blame lies with ocado and crowdity and nobody else.

It's a shame but people abused it and so it snot surprising. I did place my order yesterday and it will be delivered tomorrow so i'm sorted. i do feel for genuine people who completed the crowdcity form. This was such a good offer that surely occado would know they would be inundated. What they should have done is limited it to 2,000 only, rather than get people's details first.
