The A30 is a dump, full of closed down cinemas, seedy pubs and old peoples flats. Most of the traffic is women going to M&S, I thought it would have made an interesting addition to the town.0

The A30 is one of the main routes through the camberley/blackwater area. there are flats, restaurants, shops, offices, churches and yes a listed building that should stay.
most of the traffic imho and own experience, commuters, locals and yes even shoppers, gosh how dare they think that they can drive on a main road
i live near here and the main issues that have always been at the forefront of the objections regarding the proposed site are: parking, knocking down a rather fine listed building and the sheer scale of the proposed design of the mosque, which lets be honest would be incredibly out of keeping with the area.
and last but not least, a mosque next to a military academy, would we be allowed to build a church next door to one in any of the predominately muslim countries around the world?
i know this is an emotive subject but options have been offered for alternative sites, ones with much better transport links and easier access, they've been turned down without being given any thought.Nonny mouse and Proud!!

This is completely irrelevant unless you live in a foreign country of which you dont, the people who want to build the mosque dont so it is not comparable.
By even mentioning it makes you look rather silly really because we in this country are not governed by strict Christian/Catholic rules & Laws so please, dont confuse yourself and think that we are and that the rules and laws of another country apply here.one of the famous 50 -

This argument that a mosque is a threat to national security is abhorrent, frankly. It's basically implying that, just by virtue of being Muslim and coming to prayer, you're a 'threat' and you shouldn't be near a 'military academy', forgetting of course that these people are probably British fgs. And FYI, there are plenty of Muslims in the Armed Forces! It's paranoid hysteria created by nasty little racist gossips who've got nothing better to do than whip themselves into a frenzy with a copy of the Daily Mail. What makes this particular argument even more ridiculous, of course, is that there's already a mosque here. There's been one on this site, next to the 'military academy' for 15 years!
And out of interest, has the MOD raised an objection to this new mosque....?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

i think its actually a relevant issue, why shouldn't we look at how things are abroad and discuss how issues are dealt with there?
yes in this country we have our own laws, and you know what? the plans haven't been approved, yet again.
this is something that a large portion of the community round here have discussed and in great detail. there is no objection to a mosque being built, just not on a main road and not at the expense of a listed property.Nonny mouse and Proud!!
