Hasnt this country already got far too many buildings where fairy stories are told to a brainwashed audience. :)

Please do not refer to the houses of parliament in that way.

Possibly not, but maybe not for racist reasons.
There is a fairly large Mosque in the town near me, and some Fridays it is gridlock in some of the roads running near it.
Due to the declining number of people going to the local Catholic & C of E churches this isn't a concern and even if it was, heavy town traffic on a Sunday generally doesn't cause too many problems.

I'm never in the area of the Mosque during the week so I don't know if they do any of the calls to prayer, but if this does happen it may annoy people living nearby.

Why is it that people who worship any religion and attend that place of worship are the worst parkers in the entire universe? :D You often see vehicles abandoned at 45 angles, on pavements, in residents driveways etc etc.

You would have thought that being a religious person you would have more consideration, thought and morals?!

I think it's because they believe they are about the Lord's business and that overrides normal consideration for others.

I once lived in a road which had a baptist hall at the end and for an hour every Sunday the road was blocked by 'worshippers'.

It's the same with women who think the fact that they are looking after children absolves them from all the normal rules of good behaviour and van drivers who think that because they are using their van for the purposes of work it gives them special privileges.

This time it genuinely is about the building - The BWA who want to pull down the old one have owned the current one for 15 years, running it as a mosque, and have let it deteriorate in the hope of being allowed to knock it down as it is in such a bad condition (overheard conversation - used to work with a moslem who was friends with a few of the people dealing with this).

It would kill the town (in my opinion at least) as it would have been on the main road into the town, the road would have been seriously compromised by the parking (bad enough on a Friday as it is) and it would have been a very odd building among the partially redeveloped buildings on the A30. I personally would imagine it would put off businesses due ito it's position.

The BWA tried to say that the catholic church was out of place - it is the one that Camberley was developed around!!!!

Incidentally, the suspicion about the paymasters, or benefactors, or whatever you want to call them, is because the current building is a stones throw (literally) from Sandhurst RMA, and the minarets would have overlooked the parade ground. The current BWA are having serious leadership problems, one of which ended in a punchup, and who knows who will take over if the current leadership disintegrates, or maybe the people paying for the mosque (who insisted on a traditional mosque on THIS site, nowhere else the council offered was good enough) will demand a say in the association. It is very difficult to stop a radicalised Iman (??) from taking over as they have at other mosques. Quite honestly, this would be a prime position for them.

Call me suspicious if you will, but it only takes a handful of idiots to set everything off, there is no suspicion about the current BWA, as I said I know a few of them and they are mostly nice guys, but there is a lot of fighting and they are ripe for a takeover.

AS for drawing visitors in - I have NEVER seen a recognisably moslem person in the town centre shopping, they have their own shops at the top end on the A30 and do not frequent the main town. I know for a fact that the moslems I used to serve in the shop I used to work in did not even know what shops were in the town.

I have moslem friends, and one of my friends genuinely is gay!

Why would replacing an unsed building with one that would attract people to it lead to a slow death?

The council should force them to make good the one they are in then. Happens down here when people let things go in the hope they can tear them down.
