    Morning all,

Bright and blowy here,so got a wash on, will hang it on the line in a while, got all of downstairs done yesterday a proper clean through, will do
upstairs today, and then get in the garden.

DD is still in bed, but will take her a cuppa now, and wake her up, we heard of a local job going last night, so she will phone today.

    Morning all :)

It's so long since I've posted on the daily thread.

Well, am sat watching Jeremy Kyle :owhilst trying to get the motivation to go and start on the house work.

Today looks like it'll be housework, some sewing/crochet/cross stitch, maybe some reading and then baking a honey cake to give to my friend who we're celebrating midsummer with tonight. And walking my father...

If you're wondering about all my new-found time - I'm starting a new nursing job and while I'm waiting for the checks etc. to come through I thought I'd devote my time to getting dad mobile again - he's had some muscle wastage in his legs and is struggling to walk any distance.

The OH is out at present but will be back shortly to create chaos no doubt - he's started his own company with a friend and if the friend isn't living with us, there's paperwork explosions frequently :rotfl:

Hope you all have a good day.

Morning chums, Condolences to Moorhen and family it somehow seems worse when its not expected IYSWIM.

NPM hope you ditch the cold soon nothing worse than a 'summer' cold

Tired Mum fingers crossed for boys op today

Essex girl chillout today for a bit if you can

Well I have done the school run, and am back at home now . Weather can't make its mind up what to do it's not cold, in fact its a bit humid, but very showery and bright one minute, and overcast the next.
NSD today as I am working my way though what I have in the fridge and freezer. I have some mediterranean soup to finish off that was reduced to 30p on Sunday in Sainsbobs as it was a big pot I bought it not only for the soup, but for the pot as well as I can reuse it for my soups in the freezer.I have a jug of stock left from the cooked gammon which I will use to make some more soup with I might try some sweet pepper soup if I can find a recipe as I seem to have around five mixed peppers in the fridge at the moment, my DD gives me the ones she's not keen on the yellow and green ones so I want to use them up if I can.
Tonight's dinner will be herby salmon from the freezer with green beans and mashed potato's all from my freezer so not a great deal of prep involved

Youngest DD made some fabulous oaty flapjacks at the weekend so I am going to email her to get the recipe as they were delicious. As I am staying away from the shops as much as possible it means I can do extra baking in the afternoon.

I managed to take the doorknob and plate off my sitting room door yesterday and took it to my local small ironmongers shop in the hope of matching it up as the door knob and plate had parted company. There a lovely chap fitted it back together for me with a tiny circit clip and its back on the door as normal Cost me 40p for the clip and the chap fitted it for nowt
I do love living in a small place where the shop keepers don't always try to sell you something unecessery.
B&Qs would have sold me a complete new handle and plate at God knows what price;) but by using the tiny old fashioned ironmongers I saved a fortune:j
On the way back from the shop I stopped to talk to a lovely lady who was doing her front garden and she gave me a big bunch of her lavender which I brought home and is drying off in my conservatory .People are so kind and perhaps its just where I live but a smile and a chat go a long way.
Right its time for a nice cup of coffee and a slice of battenburg that I have left in my cake tin.
Hope everyone has a great day (its gonna be a long one today :):))and good luck to all those with struggling teenagers and their exams.I well remember the teers and traumas from back in the 1980s when one DD was doing her GCSEs and the other her 'A'levels.Life was a bit fraught in those days .But I would stick each one in their bedrooms to do revision with trays of banana sandwiches and jugs of juice and let them get on with it:rotfl:Me and OH would be downstairs with a glass of wine out of the way ;)
    Cheers chums

    Morning everyone :D

Horrendous night sleep with BOTH kids waking. This getting up to come into our bed has got to stop. I had to settle off DD in her bed last night and then an hour later DS woke :( DD is off colour with a cold so today will be a sofa day as I feel shattered.
Went to dentist. Tried to get DS to wear his school uniform to the dentist so we could drop him off on the way back. What a mistake, huge meltdown, tears the lot :( So had to come back home, get him changed and then walk him back round. Still the kids were really good for the dentist so that's something.

I might attempt some ironing today if DD is going to lounge about although at the moment I CBA to do that either :o:o
Dry here at the moment, dare I put a load on I wonder........still it's got to be washed regardless of the weather so I dunno why I am musing about it LOL

Not sure what's for tea tonight, haven't even looked at the planner. Got last nights left overs for lunch today although I've only just had my breakfast so I think that will be late afternoon at this rate :o

Anyone got any cheap ideas for breakfast/lunch that contain plenty of protein. I don't think I am eating enough protein during the day but meat is so expensive I just wondered what tips you guys have got.

Moorhen - hugs for you and your mum. So sorry to hear about your Aunt xxx

    sammry85 - welcome to the thread :)

esmf - sorry but had to laugh about your scone mix :rotfl: Perhaps you could set up a cream tea business over the summer ;)

molly - shhhhh don't talk about Christmas, you'll be getting me and NPM all excited ;)

Butterflybrain - Glad to hear no DVT, sorry to hear bits of you are still swollen x

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day OS or not.

Morning all. First up, hugs to all those who need or want them.

Miserable weather here - its been tipping it down since about ten last night.

Breakfast was a disaster- we read about being able to do porridge in the slow cooker and it turned out welded to the liner, brown and gloopy. Any tips? So, I had yoghurt.

WM is on, DM is on, BM will be on soon I think, will check what we have left.

We got a lodger yesterday. She's a lass who stayed with us for a week about a month ago before getting her own place, but it hasn't worked out as she hoped thanks to so called 'friends'. So, she's moved in here on an official basis. Today we discuss house rules and board money as my parents were here when she arrived yesterday. I'd rather discuss these things just the three of us.

Hubby is at the docs this afternoon so we're going to go into town together. I have a parcel to send back to my catalogue, and then we are going to swing round to focus to see if we can get any grit for winter. Apparently they had loads left when my folks were there yesterday.

Right, off to clear out a cupboard for the lodger. She'll be eating with us mostly but I'd rather she have some of her own space too. Hubby has known her since she was 2 so she's definitely joining the family rather than being an added extra.

Have a good afternoon and evening all.

    Hi Everyone!
Up early and did a bit more ironing before going to the gym. DH's laptop has been collected for repair - timeslot was 12.30 to 5-30 - collection was at 11.30! Good job I was in. At least we don't now have to hang around all afternoon.
Moorhen - very sorry to hear about your aunt.
    Welcome to the thread sammr85!
Hester - I like the pics on your blog.
Have now started to put stuff back in the loft - but only the cases and the Christmas stuff. Loads more to sort through still. had friend to supper last night and decided to make a chocolate whisky cake for pudding...oh dear we're on a diet NOT! Not until we've finished it up anyway!
Weather threatening rain...but has been like that since first thing and no rain yet. Nice and warm though.
Both front and back lawn cut this morning!
Oh well, better crack on. Have a lovely day - and do take care.

    Morning All

Oh no, it isn't, its afternoon :o

Moorhen sorry to hear about your aunt. xx

Just back from DS1's leaver's assembly at school, which the children wrote and organised themselves. They should be very proud, it was excellent and we oldies were all in awe (and tears) watching it. Can't believe he's off to high school after the summer. vouchersrme said something nice on my FB the other day about how at this age you can already see the man they are going to be, I really felt that today watching him and his friends celebrating the end of this phase of their lives, and the transition into their new phase.

I am off today, so will get some housework done, and then get stuck into my interview prep for Thursday.

Good news for Butterfly Brain too that its not a DVT. :D

Hugs spoons and hi fives all round
