There is no reason you should have to pay.

This is what I was thinking, you say your GP was wary of prescribing the Pill etc and your husband was thinking of having a vasectomy.

But then what ... you realised you were not on the pill and he hadnt had a vasectomy but you just carried on having sex anyway? Was this not obviously going to happen?

I dont mean to have a go but it just seems like this situation was inevitable

You may be right, although are sex life isn't "active" i could count the number of time on one hand in 6 months. We don't share the same bed, I sleep in DS1's room. I suppose i was naive enough to think it wouldnt happen to me

Ring the surgery ask for an appointment and if she refuses ask for the practice manager the receptionist has no right to refuse you an appointment and you don't have to tell them why you need an appointment.

Hope it all works out for you and ignore the people who think they have a right to comment on your life it's none of their business either.

  • I did sort of say it was my right to have an appointment and she said "yeah you can - in two weeks"

I'm going to give BPA a call in the morning, there's no family planning open tommorow near us. My husband is off tomorrow so ideally would like too see somebody with his support

The doctor you see either a GP or at family planning clinic will refer you to either your local NHS hospital where obviously it will be free, or one of the privately run clinics who often have an arrangement with the NHS to perform terminations under them, Either way there is no cost to you.

Don't beat yourself up. We all look back and would do things differently. :A

Doesn't your GP do emergency appointments? Ours save some each day and you can call when they open.

I hate the receptionists at my doctor's.

BPAS arrange everything for you, and it doesn't cost anything. I never saw my GP. There is an initial appointment to talk things through, and discuss options then a further appointment to go through with the termination. Hope this helps you x

ring Marie Stopes the will tell you if the have a self referral protocol in place for your area - in which case you can book direct with them and NHS pays, If not they will tell you to go thru gp or CASH/ Family Planning clinic - go to the clinic or insist on the emergency appt with GP.
