In a state - I'm Pregnant! poss sensitive

Im a user of the forums but have come under a new alais.

I've got 2 children aged 5 and 2, my 5yr old has special needs and i'm pregnant approx 6 weeks.

I think i'm pretty set on a termination, my DS1 takes needs alot more care and attention than a average child, i will no longer be able to work (which i enjoy and the money keeps our heads above water) We only have a 2 bedroom house so have no room for a 3rd child.

Before i get slammed down for being ridiculously stupid i have looked into going on the pill and lots of contraceptives but my GP was hesistant to prescribe me anything due to my mum having oestrogen sensitive cancer and he said he needed to check what was suitable.

Anyway, i phoned the Dr's this AM and the receptionist was most unhelpful saying i had to see the nurse (I tryed on numerous occasions to tell her the nurse couldnt do anything for me and it was a waste of time) she said the next appointment for the Dr is in 2 weeks, in 2 weeks im going to be approx 8 weeks and i would prefer the tablet form of termination not the surgical. So by the time he refers me to the clinic i will probably be too late - how do i get around this? any ideas. I feel like i will have to tell the receptionist, then the nurse just to be able to see the bloody Dr!!

any help most appreciated!

Could you make up another urgent reason to see the doctor that would get you an emergency appointment?

Go to a walk-in centre, or to an NHS sexual health clinic, or to Marie Stopes, or ring a friend's GP and explain the problem you're having with yours, they may see you as a 'visitor'.
  • Didn't want to read and run but i would explain to the receptionist your predictament and say you need an emergency appt, 2 weeks to wait in your situation may be too long. Alternatively are there any walk in clinics available to you? What are your OH's thoughts?

    I wish you well.

You can go directly to a clinic yourself and they will in the vast majority of cases do the procedure on the NHS still. Don't panic you can skip the snotty power trip receptionist at your surgery all together (I think every surgery has a woman like that).

We've had threads like this previously and there's usually a few users with the links you need to find your nearest clinic and advice service etc, I'm sure you'll have the info you need pretty soon.

Sorry I don't know them myself.

2 weeks to wait to see a doctor for any reason is pathetic in my view!
I agree, find a walk in centre, maybe a local family planning centre or a Marie Stopes, tell a friend or poss the father if appropriate.
Get some support and do what you need to do, don't let a receptionist get in your way.
Maybe if you could state your rough area people could suggest somewhere

You can go to your local Family Planning / Sexual Health Clinic. They will be able to refer you for termination

My husband is feeling massively guilty, he feels that he should have had the snip when DS2 came along. Although i feel that if i'd have been excited about it then he would have, but he can see that it is affecting me so he's seeing it as a negative thing too. I hope that makes sence Thank you all x

Feeling guilty isn't going to help either of you. It's happened and getting medical help promptly is the best way forward and make sure he gets a vasectomy now.

It makes perfect sense that he is picking up on your feelings and it is good that you have each other. Best Wishes.
