Tesco Online Banking Inaccessible

I managed to get through this afternoon in around 18 minutes to sort out the glitch in the original logon to this new system!
Three security questions answered verbally to lovely lady “Margaret” then transferred to an automated phone system to enter my 6 digit pin.
Accepted fine and ended the call. Completed my logon using Google Chrome browser with XP Home o/s, asked to be remembered on this PC and gained access to my Accounts and info where I updated my mobile number, email etc. I did a transfer to my linked current account, which went trough quickly.
Logged off and back on again and sure enough my computer was remembered!
Then thought, lets try IE8 now for a comparison, but although I got the initial recognisable image and phrase page, I was told that I’d have to receive the customary one-off code by email as the system thought I was on a different PC.
Anyway, no problem, code arrived and entered successfully. Asked to be remembered again, gained access to all account areas as before and logged off.
Could not log back in using IE8 without requesting another one-off code?
Same story trying to log-in again using Google Chrome?
Should be fun gaining access first with Google Chrome and then opening the IE8 browser and going through the motions again to see if it’s possible to be logged in simultaneously on what the system thinks is two different PC’s.:rotfl:0 -

I will certainly keep an eye on their promise of compensation. I was told it would be credited to my account this week!!??
@emesee: I'm VERY pleased to report that upon checking my account this evening, I discovered that Tesco Bank has honoured its promise (made last Wednesday) and paid my compensation into the account.
So, I eat humble pie for my suspicions . . .
Credit where it's due - thank you for the compensation, Tesco.
I hope you and others are equally succesful.0 -
I don't know whether similar has been posted before, but people might wish to know this:
I originally registered the new access system on my home PC.
I have just tried using my laptop to access my account. As expected, they immediately sent a temporary PIN (valid for 10 minutes only) to my mobile phone.
Inputting the PIN, I could access the account without difficulty.
Here's the important bit: by confirming that I would be using the laptop again, in future I am able to log-in on it immediately, ie., without any more temporary PINs. Which is good.0 -

Can't check at present as I am away from home.
But I really do not expect that problem.
Once a computer has been recognised and "registered" for security, I anticipate being able to log-in immediately.0 -
New article about ongoing issues.

"(Reuters) - Tesco (TSCO.L), the world's third-biggest retailer, will make its long-awaited push into banking this autumn, and will not do so by buying Lloyds (LLOY.L) branches or bidding for state-owned Northern Rock."
That's a relief!

That This Is Money article is the best that I've seen on this. It tells it like it is, uses the right vocabulary to describe the immense scope of the debacle, and does not buy into any of Tesco's spin and blarney.
The Reuter's article is interesting too. Higginson says that moving into banking on their own has proved "incredibly difficult". He's not kidding, since they have failed abjectly at the first major hurdle. Although the big four get all sorts of bad press, much of it completely justified, they have decades or even centuries of experiences of managing mass current account banking. Even many of the former building societies have struggled with this, let alone an organisation that has no past track record in financial services, and which has built its business on pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap groceries. Marks & Spencer appears to have a much more sensible approach to branching into financial services.
It remains to be seen how widely this fiasco has become known and how much it prevents people from giving Tesco a go in its new banks whatever form they take. I have a feeling that it may prove to be a step too far, and may end up as abortive a venture as, for example, Virgin's attempt to produce a rival to Coca Cola.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Mr Benny Higgins quoted statistics recently.
I've been playing with numbers myself:
Average 1 hour call wait
1000 call centre staff - (at a generous guess)
14 hour day Mon -Fri
8 hour day Sat - Sun
14000 calls per hour for 5 days
8000 calls per hour for 2 days
Total for the week 86,000 angry callers with probably over 500,000 more to go.
I suspect the phone queues wil last several weeks.:o
Just tried again - and got through in 4 minutes - total call time was 11 minutes and my account now closed.
The nice chap tried to talk me into staying with Tesco Bank and said all I needed was a mobile phone - NO THANKS. So now a happy Benny .....0
