  • morning all

porridge for breakfast this morning, got two more sachets of it to use up and then onto the cereal, lol.
two tubs of stirfry gone into the freezer, out came a pack of sausagemeat and 2 chicken breasts, DM will be making stuffing tonight :D will have with some kind of veg and potatoes. (might ask her to make mash...).

will move some sausages and bacon from outside freezer to indoors one and maybe a few other things too.

will be looking out for y/s and reduced stuff (veg, bread) when we go shopping today but want to try and keep it at a minimum if poss - unless of course I cant resist, lol.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.
Been to Brother's and only bought 1 litre of Almond Milk from Asda for £1 - they were OOS on Hazelnut Milk.
Made some vegetable soup and had that, used up bits of odd veg and even added some frozen peas and sweetcorn. It is actually nice.
Hubby had a bowl as just veg and water basically with stock. Last day of fruit and cereal bars and blood sample day tomorrow. Zero dairy products since Saturday, so lets see what the results say!!
We can start eating properly together from tomorrow. lol

Might pop into Sainsbury's tonight, depends on the weather as it's looking like it's trying to snow. But ONLY want decent reduced stuff.
Asda has veg on at 50p, caulis, carrots, parsnips etc. I'm holding back until Wednesday and picking up what I need for the rest of the week.
I don't think I'll be able to refuse the Lidl 19p white chocolate at the weekend. Gone are the 30 bars at a time though ................................. maybe just 20 this time. :D

Had a bit of a disaster to the start of the week.....I stupidly went to the butchers with my mum and spent £12.50 (aaarrgghhh). I did get some quality meat for the week though....1 big chicken, some calves liver, a rabbit and a huge ham shank. Hopefully none of it will hit the freezer lol!

Yesterday we took out 6 chicken breasts, from the freezer, for curry. Also used rice and curry sauce from the cupboards and onions and pepper from the fridge.

Plan for the week is to get some fresh veg and some sandwich fillings. Hope we dont need anything else because I only have £30 left until next Monday.

    Hope everybody is well :)

  • Hi again all

Went to go out this afternoon and as we were getting in the car another car pulled up near me and driver pointed out I had a flat tyre! Had to pop to local servicing centre two roads away and they fixed it, but only cost £6 + a 20 minute wait so not too bad, just stressful.

When we did get to T's, couldnt resist some beef burgers on y/s, marked down to half price (£1.20 a pack) so got three packs. Came with buns and sauce and everything! Noticed a big pack of fresh cream profiteroles (£1.58 down from £2.40) and put those in trolley. Got some cheap bread too and thats gone in freezer too for another day.
Annoyed as no reduction on the veg aisle so had to buy full price salad

Used £5 off a £40 spend, had a 35p coupon for homepride flour, and 60p coupon for a free MaltEaster bunny :T

Spent a bit more than I wanted to really but will last us well into April. Have a £3 coupon for Iceland to be used by Friday so may pop down and see if theres anything worth picking up.
  • Can you ask a mate to show you how to change a wheel on a car?.Its really easy and will save you a fortune in the long run.
    Anybody can do it.

I am not good with cars, I am your typical female in that I drive a little here and there and thats it.
To be honest I am happier taking it to a service centre (the owner of the one I went to I am on fairly good terms with) where I know the problem will be sorted by a professional.

I am not about to haggle over £6 when it gives me peace of mind.

As for "anyone can do it" - why on earth then do we have garages and the like?!!? Surely they are there to provide assistance to drivers!
  • Garages and the like are not just there to change wheels.

Its of course upto you if you dont want to change your own.But what if you got a flat in the middle of nowhere? then had to wait ages for an AA or RAC person to attend?. In terms of your own safety its beneficial to be able to undertake this basic task.
  • I am a member of Swiftcover and previously been a member of Admiral/Diamond when I had my previous car. I have every reason to think they will provide me with my breakdown cover as paid for when and as I require it for a flat tyre (or any other issues I might have).

Also, I am more than aware, thank you, that garages are not just there "to change wheels".

Forgive me for saying but your tone is very patronising in all you've written so far and I dont see that I have any need to explain myself to you further.

As it is, the tyre is now fixed, I paid £6. Matter is closed as far as I'm concerned.
