    Made pancakes for dinner.

Nothing in/out of the freezer today.

Spent about 70p on some cheap chocolate and blackcurrant squash.

    Florenceem - cake looks yummy!
  • Lost track of whats come out of freezer this week. Obviously not much eating going on around here!!

Got free Wispa Bites from work tonight as shows have been manic all week and this is our thank you! Two more shows tomorrow and then that's it for the week!
Talking of bare cupboards, we are having a stock change over at work in April so the managers havent ordered anything new in. We are completely depleting the cellar in the downstairs bar, and its so empty already. Just an example of the craziness - on Wednesday night alone we went through about 16 cases of white wine. And theres 6 bottles in every case, thats nearly 100 bottles!

Anyway this week have eaten the WW meal and the Rustlers burger I took out, had some of the frozen chips.
Tonight took out the last of the white bread tonight for toast in the mornings, and a portion of pasta bake for after work tomorrow night.

Had portion of stirfry today, made three little tubs of it earlier in the week and rewarmed in the microwave at work. That used up the rest of the frozen stirfry veg and the rest of the open bag of egg noodles in the fridge, threw in a can of sweetcorn as well to give it more colour. Got one more portion to take with me to work tomorrow :)
Have a new pack of stirfry veg and rice noodles this time that were on y/s at T's, will chop up and use the two packs of A's steaks that DM wont touch because she is afraid of them being horse-ified (lol but I'm not) :rotfl:

Also DM made shepherds pie with the last pack of mince from the freezer on Tuesday, and then Thursday night was corned beef pie, again using up some more tinned stuff.

have a good weekend all

I'm going to be jumping in and trying this, my biggest expense seems to be food. Thanks to a run to the Cash & Carry I have a freezer full of chicken breasts (21 for £19.99) and lots of beans, lentils and frozen veg and fruit. The only thing I may need to pick up is eggs and milk.

I don't really mind eating the same thing over and over as i'm on a restricted training diet so anything other than lean meats, veg and fish are out anyway :(

Turned the condensed milk into fudge, very calorific but all gone now.
Did a half price gammon in the slow cooker, yesterday and put in a pk of split green peas, so had mushy peas with it last night and going to turn the rest of the stock and peas into soup, should be able to get at least another couple of meals out of the gammon as well.

Edwardia:- yes I'm going to grow again this year, but stick to what we like as I tend to get carried away with all the unusual stuff. On the veggie line its going to be carrots, sweetcorn, lettuce/leaves/herbs, courgettes, runner and french beans. I've put overwintering onions in last November. Toms, peppers, and chillies in greemhouse. I realy dislike aubergines, peas aren't worth growing and i always get catterpillers on the brassicas, maybe I should cover them.

Evening all, hope all are well.

Gaelen - welcome to the thread and good luck.

I never had a NSD yesterday as spent just 49p on reduced large oranges and creme fraiche from Sainsbury's - I just couldn't avoid the place when passing.

Spent £5.79 today, but included a litre of Filippo Berio extra virgin olive oil @ £2.99. Most of the rest on fruit.

Just had toast today for breakfast and minestrone soup, I'll have some more soup later. Hubby had Quorn sausages with eggs and beans, only 4 Quorn sausages to clear.
Made a pasta bake for tomorrow, so easy day.

No much needed next week, but will target cheap fruit and veg, hubby has a cholesterol check shortly and eating loads of fruit of late and until the check. He's lost approx 9lb and much fitter, so see if the effort has helped.

Spends for the week were £14.96, so just under £15 and that was after having the first 4 days NSD's!!
A similar week next week if possible.
Freezers space is growing and once the bread and hot cross buns come out,it will look much better. Still disappointed after a great January!!

    Years spends so far:
    Jan - 58.38
    Feb - 97.21
    Mar - 44.26 to date
Total - £199.85 and pretty pleased.

I will write a note for most of what is needed next week and more or less stick to it and pick up any bargains.

    Gaelen - welcome :j

zafiro1984 ooh pea and ham soup, that's a proper Montrealer winter dish :) sweetcorn gosh I'm impressed there

Welsh Poppy - not tried beetroot lurve eating them though :)..hmm that's going on my list.

Never got to ASDA or in garden as rained all day.

OH found some diced venison (offer) in the bottom of the freezer yesterday and did yummy casserole for dinner.

We somehow managed to overlook the small boned rolled shoulder of lamb (Ocado offer) in the bottom of the freezer. Spent some time this evening looking through cook books for inspiration as having it for lunch tomorrow and it's not something I would normally buy.. Elizabeth David, Jane Grigson, Madame Benoit, Robert Carrier etc loads of old paperbacks with yellowing pages which I pick up in boot fairs dirt cheap.

Evening all, hope everyone is well.

Edwardia, I've not grown anything in the last 2 yea rs since we moved but did before. The kids loved it. Beetroots are easy to grow so you should give it a try. The only thing I found a pain was broccoli as the caterpillars seemed to like them, we didn't use pesticides or anything so the kids and me would spend ages picking them off.

Well done Lynsey on the spends you do so well.
Florenceem do you use butter, marg or stork when you bake, your cake looks yum :-) .

Food today was eggs for everyone and I had marmalade on toast, dinner was meatballs, pasta and crusty bread.

I feel in a down mood just now, well last few days, found out my neighbour is going to pass away from the big c really sad. My kids are so close to him and they already had a bereavement last year. I may not post every day at the moment.

Catch up later or tomorrow x.
