    Debt-free and Proud!
I have all this theatre background, experience etc, and I have been with the company 2 years now [my colleague who is also normal staff has been with the company 9 years!], and been passed over. Needless to say I will be speaking with my manager at some time this week to convey how angry I am.

Hope you feel more valued soon :(

We're having "freezer surprise" tonight with jacket potato or rice. I got two containers out of the freezer this morning. When I get home I'll be able to see what they've defrosted into! I think that one of them's game casserole...

I need to empty the freezer for two reasons - to cut down on my food bill for the next couple of months and to defrost it!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. yeah having a carp month. My cousins in Vancouver mentioned in a letter to my mother that they sent me a letter too with lots of family history stuff in it. I hope they sent it trackable cos not had it, hope it's not lost by Postes Canada Post or Royal Mail :(

OH away at the moment. He was lucky to get train out this morning as roads here impossible with snow, we must have more than 15cm. Some stupid twit tried to gun it up our hill last night and slid, bounced off several cars and there were a few angry voices.

Freezer movements zero so far, cupboard movements opened new box of Clipper organic Earl Grey teabags (Ocado offer). Thinking of breaking open the Swedish rye crispbread (the real thing and cheaper than Ryvita) to slather on some peanut butter :D

Deleted_User I would try and swallow my anger but ask manager for feedback, say you want more training and point out that you and others knew nothing about the team leader position or that there were going to be two managers not one.

gailey, could you not cut down on cakes, biscuits, crisps and sweets for the kids and use the money saved on bigger meal portions ? Cakes, biscuits, crisps and sweets are basically empty calories as they don't give the kids much nutrition-wise and would also save money on dentistry too. I haven't had a single filling since giving up sugar more than 15 yrs ago but cos I ate chocolate a lot as a kid I had eleven fillings before I hit 18

Edwardia - I already emailed last night (before any of this came out) to ask for interview feedback but yes, thats a good idea, I will ask for more training.

I had a email from a guy I work with asking to cover his shift (his wife went for the promotion too, lovely Venezuelan woman) and I mailed him back and said I couldnt as I was too annoyed to have any respect for the job at the moment!! :rotfl: I got a reply a little later from his persceptive, basically saying how good I seemed at my job and how hard I work etc, which was nice.
They were also surprised about the position that suddenly appeared so I think theres been more than a couple of noses out of joint!

    Evening all. Hope all ok.
Theatregirl, sorry you didn't get job, think of it as an experience ready for another time.
Home made leek and potato soup tonight, was going to freeze 2 portions but have now put them in the fridge ready for tomorrow's lunch.

ok so 4oz butter per 12fairy cakes=500g tub makes just 48cakes thats if dont top with butter cream icing.chepeast i can get butter is 89p on offer.

    6eggs £1 2eggs per cake so 33p per 12cakes as 2eggs needed.

    butter 22.5p per 12cakes
    eggs 33p
sugar 1kg bag 1000g in 1kg. again using 4oz means 10 lots sugar can male 120cakes so cheapest can get sugar is around £1 so 10p for the sugar.
flour is 50p per kg if savers so 5p per 4oz.
baking powder I approx guess at 2p.

2.5p+33p+10p+5p+2p=52p per 12cakes/maybe 4p per cake but thats not including icing and sprinkles and cost of cases.

So its still cheap i guess just we run out of sugar and butter quicker.

just found my latest far, food coupons expires end of feb not had march ones so hopefully they accept as only want to get £2.50 off.

Trying to work out list of what to buy.
Home baked cakes and biscuits are cheaper plus more filling. I think shop bought are full of ingredients - no one knows what they are - plus so much air beaten into them.

OH has a bit of a sweet tooth, but since his mother and daughter have type 2 diabetes I try not to give him lots of sweet stuff and carbs. It's a bit of a struggle because he lurves bread, cake, wine gums, biscuits and ice cream.

He's allowed Green & Black's organic chocolate ice cream only when it's on special offer. Unless I mess up the ordering I try to ensure that he has a small fruit bag from Riverford or a small Respect Organics organic carrot cake (1.80, Sainsburys) or Yeo Valley/Rachel's/Brown Cow organic fruit yogurts (pref when on offer)for work and not fruit, cake and yogurts.

Pack sizes of rolls work in my favour so OH doesn't get to have rolls every day. At weekends, now that he's given up drinking, he gets one loaf of artisan bread for the weekend. It's quite funny, he gets a blissful look on his face, when he eats it. I think good bread to him = good chocolate :rotfl:

    Evening all :)

Not been doing too great on emptying the freezer but have managed to clear enough space to actually do an inventory and have stuck it to the front of the fridge so I can plan my meals around it.

In the past couple of days....

    Out, some mushrooms, some babycorn

In, 2 small portions of spicy tomato sauce (each portion enough for one pizza or portion nachos)
A flat bread cut into 4..... Sure I'll find a use for it!

Midweek roast tomorrow so lots of freezer movements planned :j
