Hi guys as freezer and cupboards were so run down ended up doing bigger shop than planned in new aldis.

    Got the basics like

    eggs
    cheese
    ham
    bacom, passata
    tinned
    pasta/rice

    fruit
    some veg.

Only problem is randomly brought stuff

spent£80 trying to get down to 50 a week is very hard

so ideally now have to meal plan next 10days.

    its 20days left until payday.

brought 1 whole chicken-hoping to get 3meals out of it.

    1)chicken curry
    2)chicken rissoto
    3)Chicken and veg soup

4-7frozen fish fillets-enough to make 3-4meals got cod and salmon.

    8+9)breaded fish-2meals

    10)thinking pasta bacon peices

11)jacket potato with ham and salad.

12)leek and potato soup as have leeks left over from last week.

13)Try doing carrot and coriander soup as carrots super six

    14)tuna/ sweetcorn pasta for kids

15)homemade pizza cheated brought a base mix.

    16)toasted sandwiches with oven chips.

    17)cooked brunch.

    18)vegetable curry with rice.

out of date riccotta by 6days would you use?

For some reason have no plan was drawn to buying butternut squash any ideas?

I have approx 12packed lunches got loads of wraps and bread.

dident buy many biscuits as plan is to bake cakes again.

we have enough cereal to last next 10 days but really annoyed how fast crisps are going down.

have enough yogurts for least 7days.

so hard with family even hubby shows no restraint so have to hide and ration.

any other possible meal ideas I forgot?

so far spent close to £200 and target was £50 a week food and household, milk nappies extra 50quid on top so £250 so if cant last next 10days without shopping then spend £50 be ok.

dident help big box washing powder finally run out as thats expense every couple of months.

Also had to do toilitry and household stockup so trying not to beat myself up over and brought cooking oil as well today.

feel better having it typed up I now have aplan as wasesent very focussed today as had 2kids and hubby and tight on time.

could i do fish pie minus prawns with frozen fish?

whats next week super six? the same?

wondering if get veg box from ,milkman next we stops me going to the shops.

made a lovely frittata last night so will do few egg bases dishes and still on hubt for good veggie recipies.

My back has been HORRENDOUS, I'm popping diazepam and painkillers like there's no tomorrow which, aside from making me feel nauseous, are also making me really drowsy so - on the plus side - I've barely eaten anything except the odd bowl of cereal for the last few days so no stores really touched and a lot of NSD's!

It is slowly starting to ease the spasm in my back so hoping to get a shower tomorrow and do some gentle exercise to get it moving again. Not gonna push my luck though.

Now, back to the huge pile of magazines my sister bought me after my hospital trip last week.

    Where's kirri?

Edwardia I don't like animal's, but keep forgettimg to say, sorry you lost your pal.

Florenceem, do you just put the flour in the once? Or do you have to keep doing it?

Been out all day, popped to my grandmas for lunch had pate on crackers, a mango and juice, forgot completely about dinner and taking something out, im hoping the.chicken bakes will defrost soon.
I put the bag of flour in a poly bag and stick it in the freezer for a couple of days. When I get it out of the freezer - I let it come up to room temperature on the kitchen worktop before emptying the flour bag into a storage jar.

    Hello all,

I am de-lurking as I'd like to join you please.

We have a freezerful of lovely food, as hubby work for w*rose, and so we are in there far too often buying, admittedly, bargains.

But our grocery spend hasn't been under £500 per month for ages, for a family of 1 cat, 2 dogs,2 adults and 3 kids including 1 in nappies. I reckon if we got snowed in we could eat for several months really rather well which is great, but we need to use up some of the freezer foods plus the random assortment of approved foods stock we have.

Therefore have meal planned this week from larder and freezer and bought only fresh and top up bits, but still managed to spend £70 on groceries:eek:

    Still here goes,

    Freezer movements
    In
3 portions of leftover chicken curry and rice, passed on by a
friend who said it was too spicy for her family, 2 packs of chicken burgers bought today (I know, I know, not a good start)
    Pack of frozen yorkies.

    Out
2 packs of gammon for tea tonight
Pack of meatballs for tomorrow's dinner

Aiming to take at least as many items as I put in each day for a bit.

Ok, off to take some ice out for now a drink.

I think I need to come back in here!

Managed to do a decent reduced haul this evening, for the first time in ages. Now the fridge/freezer/cupboards are absolutely packed. So I need to resist going near supermarkets for a while :p:o

Going to do a freezer (and perhaps cupboard) inventory tomorrow because they're so full I honestly forget what's in there half the time.

Breakfast today was golden syrup porridge (got loads of the instant packets, which need using up really). Then I had a reduced doughnut this afternoon. And for dinner I had a vegetable burger, a pitta stuffed with reduced salad and some grilled halloumi and homemade chips :) completely stuffed now. I got a punnet of strawberries for 18p this evening, admittedly rather squashed, but I think they'll make a lovely smoothie with some banana and milk :) Might have to wait until tomorrow though! Also got a pack of 8 sausages for 24p, 6 gone in the freezer and think I'll whip up some pastry and make some sausage rolls for OH with the other 2.

Hope everyone's had a good day!

Morning all. Bit quiet in here this morning. Got a mild headache, but really want to do a load of spring cleaning. Hopefully it'll go soon. Want to finish off the lounge and sort Ds' room today.

Yesterday I had boiled egg sandwich for lunch and used up a fish fillet with the last of some lattice chips for tea. Have taken out a duck breast for meals today. Will have some in a wrap for lunch with Mexican mole sauce and will use the rest of the duck with rice and maybe a jerk casserole sauce for tea as it's just myself for meals today so can get away with extra spice!

May make some corn bread later if I get time.

Yesterday I spent £3.60 on bread cakes, mushrooms, milk and tomatoes. Think that's the first spend of the week from Monday.

Today will be a NSD as not venturing out. The freezer is looking like there's space, in one of the drawers (the smallest one). :o Pay day soon but not feeling an urge to go out and stock up on anything.

Welcome to the thread v1ckyt - nice to see a new face.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Morning all, not much movement from the freezer the past few days, have been eating lots of fresh/cupboard stuff. Monday kids had fishfingers/waffles out of freezer and we had 2 chicken breasts from freezer in our stir fry.

Tonight will be using up a lot of veg from freezer, I just can't seem to see my freezer emptying! Really need to do an inventory but that would involve lots of freezer jenga so cba :rotfl:

On the plus side I have been to the sm a couple of times and nothing new has gone in my freezer :j
